OrbX - Upcoming Night Lighting Changes

Recommended Posts

You guys all been following this development?

(Essentially better LOD on lighting, which is key for night flying/realism)

This new night light technology they will be rolling into all their products is a HUGE deal.

Check the video and you'll see what I mean.

This will hopefully bring the night flying experience much closer to par with the X-Plane world, where night lighting has long been one of their more distinct advantages.

The lighting in the video is really great (I think).

Looks pretty cool. I hope that it will not be too VAS intensiv.

I think there's always been a tendency to make lights overly large and I *hope* that they get the sizes right.  I also *hope* that they get the streetlights down below tree height where it typically is in real life.  I really enjoy dusk and night flying when it looks right.

Won't this hammer our FPS?

Me too! - When it's reasonably believable & accurate looking, it's a really fun experience for sure!

Not up to par with X-Plane yet but a move into the right direction. For me the key is to make the individual lights small but bright like RTH in X-Plane handles it.

I agree, this is a huge move in the right direction.

The one thing I really do like about what I'm seeing in these videos/screens is the variety of lighting.

I've always felt XPX lighting needed way more variety in sizing/intensity/coloration of lights, etc.

Just my opinion anyhow.

...of price too!  haha

Will be nice to have better OrbX lighting for those of us who don't want to load up on NE for cost reasons or if they don't cover some region you're looking for, etc.

You’re all probably wondering what is Black Marble all about…
let me shade some light
happy.png, Black Marble is the missing link in Night Environment,

You can look at it as Night Environment light weight Global sibling,

With Black Marble we convert Sim’s native night environment worldwide to match visually our full Night Environment regions,
