C-130 X-perience Starting Help

Recommended Posts

After much frustration, I think I have cracked the problem of getting the C-130 started from cold and dark and wanted to share it with my fellow pilots.

It involves two crucial steps:

1.  Assign a key sequence to open the fuel valves.  I use CTRL-SHFT-5.  You can find the entry point for this under the Options-->Settings-->Controls-->Buttons/Keys tab.

2.  Make sure that there is a key sequence assigned to "Mixture Full Rich."  Mine is CTRL-SHFT-F4.  It is entered in the same place.

Once you load in to the C-130, hit each of these key sequences once before doing anything else.  Then follow the start-up procedure that can be found in many tutorials.  I discovered that you have to press the starter button TWICE.  The first time seems to "wake up" the process, Pushing and HOLDING the button a second time will start the engine.

Happy to answer questions.
