Q400 and landing? (majestic)

I've read and I've watched, but the videos I've seen don't really go into detail about what you do to get the q400 on the ground, and the posts I've seen seem conflicting on if there is some sort of auto land for the plane? Is it a basic ILS system? I can't seem to figure it out.

There is no autoland.  You'll have to land it yourself.  There is an ILS that will guide you and you can couple it to the autopilot in approach mode, but it is not authorized below 200' AFE and will not flare/rollout, etc.  Also there is no autothrottle.

Thanks, I knew about the no autothrottle, which is kind of fun It's similar to the PMDG j41 in a lot of ways.

Autoland is generally the preserve of full-size airliners; there's no autoland on most turboprops and regional jets, including the Q400. The autopilot approach mode will track the ILS but as Eric mentioned it must be disconnected by 200 ft. However, the Q400 is certified for CAT III operations (which would normally be autoland) if equipped with HGS/HUD, although you'll be hand flying this!

Landing the Q400 (which has been well documented) is ALL about thrust. For flaps 15 I believe pitch should be about 1 degree nose up and flaps 35 2-3 degrees nose down. Set that and forget it! Use thrust to adjust everything... and the best advice is to leave thrust ON for touch down! It's not like a jet where 20ish feet above you go to idle that will cause the dash to drop like a rock. It's all due to the small thin wings (which gives the good fuel economy) but at low speed they're useless. It's possible to make reliable good soft short field landings, just need practice and adhering to the thrust not pitch to maneuver on final.
