Prepar3D Tweak Assistant (PTA)

Does the shadowing get doubled up when an object in in both the terrain and cloud shadow? I am trying to figure out why some of my autogen trees were much darker than others. BTW I am using Adam's 20-10 preset.

No, usually the shadowing don't get doubled. But with tweaked (lowered) "Clouds shadows depth" clouds shadows get the additional deepness. Untick this tweak and all shadows must be the same.

Thank you - that did the trick! I thought I was going mad  and seeing things. Great tool and thank you again!!!

PTA 2.10 deployed. No changes since 2.10 beta 2.

Release notes:

1. Prepar3D V3.4 Hotfix 3 (3.4.22 build 19868) compatibility.

2. Fixed bug in Autogen emissive lighting tweak (transparent buildings with Autogen ratio > 1.0).

3. New tweak Water saturation: separate saturation adjustment for water. This tweak uses the value of the Terrain saturation tweak (which affects terrain AND water) as its base.

4. New parameter for Water surface tweak: "Water view angle/darkness factor". This adjustment will allow to reduce/strengthen effect how P3D darkens the water to almost black as soon as you look anywhere near vertically down.

5. Tweak "Aircraft lighting" renamed to "Aircraft lighting & saturation".

6. New parameter for Aircraft lighting & saturation tweak: The "Adjust only internal/virtual cockpit view" checkbox allows to apply all tweak parameters only for internal/VC views and do not touch the outside model. (With exception of some outside model parts for some aircrafts).

7. New parameter for Aircraft lighting & saturation tweak: "Saturation" - the separate saturation adjustment for a/c.

How to upgrade PTA 2.XX to PTA 2.10:

To install:

delete old PTA.exe from your PTA 2.0X directory, unzip PTA.exe from new distribution archive.

Then apply your preset.

Cheers!

Thanks Yuri.

Question : I am trying to make the AG objects darker ( the object lighting tweak  ? ) , as I find them to white from a distance.

Does this also work when not using buildings/trees shadows in P3D ?

I only use terrain shadows.

So perhaps only the bright parts can be made less bright.....

Or is there another way ?

Thanks

If you are using AG receive shadows, you can make the diffuse component lower.

If not, please see the solution here: http://www.avsim.com/topic/489018-prepar3d-tweak-assistant-pta/page-53#entry3560569

You're welcome!  :hi:

Thanks Yuri !

Will try it

Is there a way to reduce the whiteness of the clouds in the distance, and the bloom of the whiteness (even though I have bloom disabled), instead making them darker, so they fade into the distance more? It seems to be something to do with P3D's volumetric fog, but I haven't seen it before, and it's somewhat off-putting at night  :P

Try to untick "No-popcorn modificator" in your preset.

Here's a snow pic for a change!

Adam, first of all - PTA and your presets made me love my Sim again!! I moved my 47" TV Screen on my Desk and now its soaking me in :-)

One Question: What P3D settings for reflections and shadows (cast, receive...) are you using?

One Question: What P3D settings for reflections and shadows (cast, receive...) are you using?

I really must post my P3D settings up on my PTA page (!).

Basically, all shadows are set to ON with the exception of "No shadow flagged content". As far as reflections go, I have all set to ON except clouds (which I hate).

I've never ever seen clouds reflected by the sea in RL - even in almost totally calm weather. A small lake or mill pond maybe ... but not the sea which will, in 99.9999% of the time, have enough waves to break up any reflection. However - I've definitely seen the sea surface afftected by cloud shadows (but maybe not *quite* as obviously/dramatically as in P3D!). Also - I never use the "Ultra" water setting. It's *disgusting*!

I don't have a fast PC, but have most sliders full right for the purposes of testing the presets (where fps doesn't matter). For regular flying, I dial them back a bit.

Adam.
