Descriptions of the .PLN and .RTE file formats

Can anyone point me towards descriptions of the .PLN and .RTE file formats, please?TIA,Nick.

The .PLN file format is ASCII text. You can uise Notepad to read a flightplan file (*.pln). I don't know what a .RTE file is, sorry. R-

Thanks, but I do know how to read an ASCII file!What I would like to get hold of is a description/definition of the file formats. I can already generate .PLN files from other types of flight plan but I would like a (more) formal description of the format so that I can utilise any features I'm unaware of. The same goes for the .RTE (route) format used by, for instance, the PMDG aircraft.
