June 17, 20169 yr Hadn't realised you left us :-). Does anyone know what happenend to SeasonsMaxx, it was meant to come out last year, but I've not heard from John (the dev) for some time Not left, just taking a vacation:) Yeah, haven't seen John Skymaxx around for ages. Was really looking forward to his seasons. Looks like I'll be back for XP11! i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea
June 17, 20169 yr Yes !, finally X Plane is getting a much much much needed UI overhaul, graphics are looking alot better as well so X Planes future seems to be bright, hopefully the clouds will be better than in this video, finally X Plane is progressing to the point of a purchase from me
June 17, 20169 yr Dynamic seasons and vegetation would be huge. I doubt P3D or DFS could even dream of that. I don't think that they would need to dream of it. Seasons and foliage don't change while you're flying. The MSFS family has one method of accomplishing seasonal changes, and it would appear that X-Plane will need to figure out their own way to make it happen. That said, something dynamic like accumulating snow... that would be a cool use of such capabilities. Anyway, I'm tempering all my excitement about 10.50 and beyond. This thread (and others) reminds me waaaaay too much of the threads and discussions leading up to the initial release of v10.00, and that was not a good year for my expectations. While existing X-Plane users will undoubtedly look on these changes as a gold mine of exciting news, as an interested outsider I find it necessary to play the "wait and see" game. Glad to see they're still pushing XP forward though. -Greg
June 18, 20169 yr You're right. I remember the initial XP10 release very well and it took at least a year from that on until the new features were "mature" and performance began to be acceptable. It took another year (or two?) until it started to shine and yet we still see main problems (AI, ATC etc.) beeing adressed. Nonetheless it is amazing how far XP10 moved forward if you look back at the release. It's just that there is "always" so much that needs to be adressed that it never looks like a finished products. I guess that's simply the downside of Laminars approach to developement. Sometimes I love it, sometimes I'd like a well done sim that sits for a while. Maybe I'm wrong and I get my hopes too high, but my impression is that the XP developement became quite "systematic" (the whole process of building airports) and that the existing gaps might close in the next years and we'll see a more mature product during the livespan of XP11. June 18, 20169 yr Anyway, I'm tempering all my excitement about 10.50 and beyond. This thread (and others) reminds me waaaaay too much of the threads and discussions leading up to the initial release of v10.00 So true - We see this with a variety of games these days. The only real time to be actually super excited is once the new stuff is out and can be tested beyond hyperbole and internal videos, etc. Hopefully soon. Sounds like a ways off yet (as usual with XP)
June 19, 20169 yr So true - We see this with a variety of games these days. The only real time to be actually super excited is once the new stuff is out and can be tested beyond hyperbole and internal videos, etc. Hopefully soon. Sounds like a ways off yet (as usual with XP) well the new autogen can be tested now and it does look very good sofar. check the beta thread for screenshots it does looks amazing.
June 20, 20169 yr As one who has been put off regularly using X-Plane for a number of reasons but primarily it's interface, this is good news and something to look forward to.

Not everywhere has snow on the ground in the winter, and sometimes unusual places like deserts will get some. Same thing goes with foliage, depending of the longitude you'll have different changes based on temperature, and it's not just green summer to yellow fall to nothing winter, it's all gradual. Same thing happens with mountains, trees get leaves a bit later, change color and fall a bit earlier because of the temperature variations from the valleys.
June 26, 20169 yr As a user of FSX SE and P3D V3, I'm excited for X-Plane 11, looks to be a bright future for it with the huge updates coming with 11, especially finally going to a easy to use nice looking updated UI, yes !
