Baku to Tbilisi

Recommended Posts

Hi,

some pictures from a quite short hop: Baku to Tbilisi with the Tu-134.

Taxiing at Baku:

After take off: Looking back towards Baku downtown

Along the Caucasus, already descending awaiting to take the D101P transition (thanks Ed...)

Final approach

After touchdown

Tbilisi airport is full of interesting planes - at civil and military aprons and even at the storage yard

And because the journey ends here, the red carpet is ready!

I hope you enjoyed the journey.

Regards.

Thanks Ed. Transcaucasian AI traffic has my special attention, and I just love this airport and this country.

Once again I must agree, Harald, your airport population is very extensive!

I get maybe a third of your AI but I'm working on it...

However I still enjoy the visit as "my" shiny modern executive jet is allowed to park airstair toward red carpet  so you can see the band playing as you disembark.

Thanks for posting the photos btw, perhaps we can attempt a Real vs Sim here!

Hm, I should delete Vista Georgia and Georgian National from my traffic.

And one clearly sees now what happens if you come with a shiny Boeing instead of a shabby Tupolev! Even the Marshaller stands behind and wonders.

Some more real vs. sim (of course there are some restrictions for taking a photo like in the sim at the military apron):

Yes he was so excited to see us! He waved and waved, as we went by!

Thanks for the RW photos again, Harald.

Visits to the sim will be all the richer for it.

Superb screenies as always, Harald

What's the worst that can happen? :P

You are being shot

Thanks Bernd!

Being shot in Tbilisi? Rather not. I observed a passenger there (being an elder mountaineer or alpinist with a group of young girls admiring him, apparently their professor at their university...) who wanted to take his ice-axe into the cabin. The airport staff tried to convince him very patiently that this wasn't such a good idea. The "alpinist" got angry and shouted to them. (The student girls still looked onto him with servility.) All that happened was that he had to give away the ice-axe.

Some 200 kilometers north, let's say in... Grozny... he maybe would have been shot, indeed.
