Advice to P3D V3 setup

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I was testing X-Plane 10 and uninstalled P3D at all.

Now with my new GTX 1070 i want to test P3D again... I have now installed P3D 3.2, REX, and PMDG NGX only.

I wonder what settings do you recommend me in game and if i need to use Nvidia Inspector or no...

I'd start with the default settings - no NVI. See how it looks and runs - then start cranking up the settings. Should give you a good idea how the 1070 will perform.

Jose, please let me know how your testing goes. I am really interested as I have the same processor you are using. OC'd to 4.5

Really interested in the results as I am running a 4 gig 760 and have been thinking about a new Video card.

Was testing some different settings and like the results, good FPS, around 40-60 with NGX and AS LEPA, but always have a small sttuters...what hardware are needed to run P3D smooth?

Interesting result Jose, I run a i7 4790 at 4.4ghz with a gtx970. I get the same FPS with the NGX and 777. I also had stutters. I found the only way to get over these was to run my TV / Monitor at 50hz refresh then set vsync on in p3d unlimited frame rate. I also use nvidia inspector to run SGSS x 4. As long as i keep frames near 50

i get smooth flight.

Oh and i also have Affinity Mask set to 116 for my cpu.

I think this shows p3d much like fsx is more dependant on cpu rather than graphics card.

So Bob i'd prob say get a 9 series card. Prob going cheaper now the new cards are out and perhaps look at an upgrade to the cpu.

Jose check out Rob Ainscough website. He has some great info for settings etc.

Can you post screen shots of your current Prepar3D settings (the settings that cause stutters).  You could have Nasa setting under your yoke and pedals and still have stutters,  Its all fine about tuning things slowly to get a happy balance between visuals and smoothness

I had that problem. Was tied to an addon in the dll.xml in the AppData/Roaming/Lockheed Martin/Prepar3D v3 folder. My addon was the OpusPDK, I forgot to add a line;

"<DLLType>PDK</DLLType>".

But it may be different for you. Try to set all to "True" under <Disabled>, see if the game starts, then enable them one by one until you find the culprit.

You know how fidgety the game can be, change one thing, whether it be hardware or a setting and it'll cause a fuss :P Just try setting RAASPro, PMDG Hud and as_connect to disabled, see if the game starts - Worth a shot :)

Ok, tested! Even with the three in True P3D does not start.

Can i delete this file and let's P3D generate a new one?

No, I don't think it recreates the xml.dll with all your addons, those need to be manually added / added by the installers. So you should keep that one.
