PSS 777, FS9 and Win7

Recommended Posts

I'm considering purchasing the PSS 777 for the FS9, but I would like to be sure whether it will run without problems under Win7 64 bit. Has someone any experience in this subject?

Regards,

Domingos

Hi, Domingos,

I haven't run it for awhile but I don't recall any problems with Windows 7.  Bear in mind this aircraft won't run in FSX due to autothrottle problems.  Also bear in mind that it doesn't have genuine approaches in its FMC,  It does have good SIDs and STARs, although it won't load all of the available ones in its database -- no more than 16 if I remember correctly.  However I did fly it a lot, it was quite sophisticated for its time, and I learned a good deal about how to fly the 777 properly.  Look around before you buy for the best price deal.  Don't expect a whole lot of support as Avsim has removed the support forum for PSS.

Thanks Mike. As there are some problems with older models running under Win7, I wanted to be sure it would not be the case with the 777. Just Flight is selling it for €18.95, so if I do not get any negative information I will buy it. I think Navigraph supports all PSS models, so I am considering to give it a try.

Domingos

Hi, Domingos,

Blackboxsimulation.com is selling it for E9.99.  They are the successors to PSS, although I'm not sure how much support you can expect from them -- or from Just Flight --  if you should need it.   Navigraph does support PSS.   You should be able to find support on this, FS2004 forum.

A few tips: 1) if you run into any problems on loading, load the Cessna first.  In fact I think this is in the manual.  2) If your 2D panels overlap incorrectly, load first into Cockpit, not Virtual Cockpit.

Mike

Thanks Mike! I will try to see what support I can get from both suppliers.

Good luck getting any support from Blackbox.  I purchased the 777 through them and several emails have remained unanswered 6 years later!

Thanks for your information. Anyway, does the 777 work? Which were your problems?

I purchased it as a box version published by Justflight and installed it twice under Win7 64bit Professional. No issues.

JF still offers a short list of FAQs for the the 777 and you can also download the two servicepacks for box customers from their support section.

For download products they offer multiple redownloads. I could still redownload my purchases from 2008 today.

I would advise to buy through JF rather than through BBS.

I have the PSS 757 and 777 which I downloaded from the BBS site.

I am using windows 7 - 64 PRO with fs9 and I have absolutely no problems.

For fs9, go ahead and buy. They are still great aircraft.

I use the QW model withe 757 and the POSKY model with the 777.

Using PSS panels, sounds and my own flight dynamics.

I have both planes (I even published the EUR10 price in the bargain forum here), and use them as-they-are with no issues in Win7 64 bit. Well, it has the 2 FPS dip problem (I understand in XP/Vista there was the issue also) but I no longer pay attention to that.

I’ve approved your post but I suspect no one is going to install two operating systems just to get the 777 working.

I guess since the original posts were 6 years ago, and most of us have moved on to Windows 10, it’s probably quite relevant that he can explain the process.
