Need help from other Eaglesoft Citation X Pilots

Recommended Posts

I have recently been getting a consistent sim CTD with this plane on takeoff at a number of airports when using the FMS. I am trying to determine if it is isolated to my computer or if others experience the same. I would appreciate it if others with this aircraft would try this short (due to crashing) flight and report back on this thread.

The Flight Plan is KLAS 25R BOACH6 HEC RIIVR2 KLAX.  If it is going to crash it will happen before you get to the second way point so it is a quick test except for initially setting up the flight.

I only get the crashes using the latest Navigraph updates (1605 and 1606) combined with the latest FSUIPC versions 4.950 or later. What has me baffled is that if I use the default NAV database that comes the plane (1107) I do not get a crash with the FSUIPC v4.950 and later....or if I use an FSUIPC version earlier than 4.950 I do not get a crash with the laatest NAV cycles. So if you don't have both a recent FSUIPC version and the latest NAV updates you don't need to try this test.

I have enjoyed this plane for years until just recently when these CTDs started occurring. When Eaglesoft updated the Citation X for P3D I uninstalled the old FSX only version and installed the latest version along with the latest NAV data and FSUIPC. That's when my problems started. For me this issue is not sim specific and occurs in FSX, P3Dv2, and P3Dv3. I have tried the manual and FMS Data Manager installers for the NavData with the same disappointing results. I have reinstalled my sims and the only active addons are the Citation X, Navdata, and FSUIPC.

I have posted about this on the Eaglesoft, FSUIPC, and Navigraph support forums. All three do not know what could be causing this with their respective software. I have tried everything that has been suggested to me and everything I can think of to correct this on my computer.  So before I rebuild my otherwise fine running computer I thought I'd ask here if anyone else was running into the same issue.

Appreciate any help with this,

Ted

Hi Ted,

Just to confirm the problem exists with my CitationX, latest navdata, and latest fsuipc installed.  I have setup my flights using the CX20 FMS Quick Start Guide that comes with the software.

If I use the default navdata with the latest fsuipc, no problem.

If i use the latest Navigraph navdata without the fsuipc enabled in the dll.xml, no problem.

Any other scenario causes a crash just as I lift off of the runway.  It crashes taking off from some other airports too.

Hopefully others here at AVSIM have had a similar problem and can verify it or tell us what they did to fix the problem.  Hope you get your problem fixed!  If I come up with a solution, I will let you know immediately.

Best regards,

Thanks for testing this Jim. Sounds like you are having the exact same issue that I am experiencing. Hopefully someone else will participate that has an idea of what is causing this.

Glad to help Ted as this is certainly a puzzle.

I tried the flight plan again this morning but this time did not include a SID out of KLAS (Broach6).  Instead I set up the RIIVR2 STAR w/the HEC transition.  Set up everything in the FMS (perf ini, takeoff ini, etc.) and took off.  After takeoff I manually turned to the route to HEC and turned on AP after getting on course.  Total success!  So, I think the FMS does not like some of the SID's as it happens at some other airports too (not all).  Here is the FSUIPC.log for the flight:

So my suggestion is to avoid SID's, especially the ones out of KLAS. Hopefully the problem will be sorted out by someone who can figure out what we are doing wrong as it does not appear anyone else uses the Eaglesoft CitationX or has a problem with it.

I'll try to load it up today and give it a try.  Will post back.

Hi Ted!

I use this plane with the latest nav database 1606 and the latest fsuipc(payware version) and it works perfectly using the FMC for navigate. I did a flight today, KPSP to KSFF with a Cathedral one dep and the plane follow exactly this departure and I never get a CTD at other airports like KMIA, KFLL, KRSW, KTEB...using a SID with the latest Nav Database and FSUIPC. It seems to be very specific to this flight . Hope you will sorted out this problem .

Best regards

Pat

So you are getting the api.dll error if you use the flight plan posted in OP (KLAS 25R BOACH6 HEC RIIVR2 KLAX) too?  I have found success with flight plans from other locations like from KLAX to KSFO and others using a SID/STAR and the latest NAVDATA.  But, I think Ted is trying to show the error occurs 100% of the time with the plan he posted (as well as with me if I use the SID).

I'll try to load it up today and give it a try.  Will post back.

That's great Greg!

Instead I set up the RIIVR2 STAR w/the HEC transition.

Jim,

I have the same results. If I do not use the BOACH6 SID it does not crash. For me it is a strange frustrating Bermuda Triangle that requires a SID with *ALTO1 as first waypoint, recent Nav Cycle, and recent FSUIPC. That is the witches brew for a crash on my computer.

Ted

It seems to be very specific to this flight .

Pat,

It is specific to this flight and others. What I have found is that with this flight and others that have *ALTO1 as the first waypoint I get the crash. If I use the PERFUM3 departure from KLAS 25R which does not have *ALTO1 as a waypoint I do not get the crash. Any SID I use at any airport with the *ALTO1 as the first waypoint crashes. I have flown the CX for years without this problem. It is just recently with the latest Nav cycles and latest FSUIPC versions that I am experiencing this issue. I am trying to determine if it is specific to my ( and now also Jim's) computer or if it is occurring with others as well. Would you mind trying the flight plan I posted above on my original post?

Thanks,

Ted

any airport with the *ALTO1 as the first waypoint crashes. I have flown the CX for years without this problem.

This problem was first discussed here on AVSIM - http://www.avsim.com/topic/383961-eaglesoft-citation-x-20-sidstar-problem/ w/no resolution noted except one of our solutions (to fly using the default navdata).

This may be a real world issue with the Honeywell - https://honeywell.com/sites/AeroFSSCMS/INDS/Documents/DSB201605001.pdf

After reading the following document, it indicated you had to be up at a certain altitude shown by the *alt01 waypoint.  For the KLAS departure, that required to be above 2680.

http://code7700.com/g450_fms_departure_coding.html

So I tried that theory and no joy.  Got to 3000 feet and it still crashed with the api.dll as the fault.  I'm thinking now that the *alt01 waypoint can be removed IF the flight plan w/final destination has not been finalized/closed.  Have not tried that theory yet.  Also wondering if there shouldn't be an A next to 7000 at RBELL.

EDIT:  Just tried deleting *alt01 and it worked with RBELL as the first waypoint until I began putting in the Perf Init stuff.

Still trying...

I would rather the FMS went a bit bonkers than cause a CTD.  A CTD is the worst possible outcome.

While we don't do support here at Avsim we are looking for experienced CX pilots like yourselves who wish to beta test a new build which may resolve a number of difficulties we are hearing about.

Those interested may contact me with specific names and email addresses for testing setup.

I just flew the plan from the OP and didn't crash... so I think I have it corrected.  However, like Ron stated... need someone brave enough to do some testing.

I'm interested Ron. I will PM you with my contact info.

You are amazing Jim! How do you find this stuff?

I just flew the plan from the OP and didn't crash... so I think I have it corrected.

Ed, I'll volunteer. I also just discovered something else today.

Just after I made the post above about the *ALTO1 way point I was bouncing around the country trying out different airports and I was able to depart a SID with the *ALTO1 waypoint. So I went back to KLAS 25R and tried it again there. It didn't crash but instead I got the DATA LOAD 128 message in the FMS at the same time as I used to get the crash. The only thing I did different was to start the sim at a different airport first. I then shut down the sim and tried again at KLAS and it crashed. Then I restarted the sim, loaded the flight at KLAS25R, ended the flight, then reloaded the same flight and it didn't crash. So it appears, for me anyway, that reloading a flight before starting gives me the DATA LOAD 128 message instead of a crash. Both occur just after passing *ALTO1 waypoint and testings was only done with FSX. I haven't tried P3D yet or just reloading the plane instead of the whole flight. Hope this information helps.

Glad you are volunteering Ted!  I have only tested with P3Dv3 and have been getting the same crashes as you have except I have never seen the data load 128 message.

If there is an issue with the Navigraph navdata, the hypergauge, and/or fms, I would love to see a fix as it is frustrating.  Plus, we have a lot of members here who get unexplained api.dll errors and this might be the explanation.
