World Traffic 2 vs X-life Deluxe X-Plane 10

Featured Replies

Hello

I'm looking at buying my first AI Ad On package for X-Plane.   World Traffic 2 and X-life Deluxe seem to be the big ones at the moment (maybe the only ones)

World Traffic 2  http://store.x-plane.org/World-Traffic-20_p_226.html

X-Life Deluxe  http://store.x-plane.org/X-Life-Deluxe_p_472.html

From what i can gather......

World Traffic has a lot of Tinkering required to get it up and running and seems to be a finished product (not beta)

X-Life Deluxe is still in beta? Hence the price.  But has little or no Tinkering required to have you up and running,  Only has a couple of Airports working properly at the moment

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated and will receive 1 Like and a thank you

Cant speak for X-life. Havnt tried it. World Traffic is pretty good, but as you say there is quite a bit of tinkering to get it to function well. That being said, and very big update is in the works and is due to be released "soon" and will automate alot of the "tinkering" that is needed supposedly. You can read about it here

World Traffic is worth the Tinkering IMHO.

Hi Elaine,

I have WT2 installed only, therefore I can't judge XLD. WT2 has an enormous potential if you know where and how to adjust the many settings. A new version, WT2.2 is about to be released this month and should alleviate many things. WT2.x is for AI Traffic only. XLD has (as far as I know) in addition to AI Traffic an ATC control function implemented. Interesting times for x-plane users.

Kind regards

Sometimes I have to admit to myself:
"Si tacuisses, philosophus mansisses"

I use 12 AI planes in X-Plane, in combination with the new static AC this seems plausible enough to me. Works great since 10.50b (before it was a nightmare due to the "off course" warnings).

I just hope X-Plane will implement "profiles" for AI to easily switch the set of AI planes when you change regions.

In terms of World Traffic 2 ... please wake me up when it becomes user friendly and automatic in terms of routes.

Currently giving X-Plane 12.10 a spin on Shadow PC. 10 years with X-Plane now, since 10.20

That's what I use (WT2), but that time will come only when WOAI reaches the same milestone for FSX.

Producing a viable AI Traffic addon is a bear, no matter what sim we are talking about. Schedules, aircraft and liveries are in a constant state of flux. With most addons, bugs are cleaned up and capabilities are marginally enhanced with new versions. But an AI addon is a far bigger challenge because it is the proverbial moving target.

After years of tinkering with FS9, FSX, etc. the features in World Traffic that give new meaning to AI for me are military formation flights, overhead breaks and vertical departures.
