If you've never run an XP beta before,  run the "X-Plane 10 Installer.exe" which should be in the root directory of your XP install.

When you run the installer there's an option to download the beta (tickbox).

If you're new to XP, I'd recommend that you explicitly setup a separate X-Plane install first and only apply the beta updates to it so you will always have a stable version running (you can do that with the installer as well ... or just copy and paste your existing XP install and call it something else e.g. "X-Plane Beta").

If you don't have it you can download the latest installer from www.x-plane.com

:)

Caveat - I don't know about Mac's ... I'm running Windows 10.

Keep in mind, If your using the Steam version, you can not get the beta. You will be updated to it when it becomes release candidate.

Just flew KPHX KLAX on Vatsim without any issues . seemed like the weather injection worked better than 10.45.  Gonna do more testing.

Hey guys.  My copy would not update (disc install) until I tried several times and then only went to Beta 5 (not 5a).  Every time I start, I get the message that an update is available.  Going through it will install about 14GB and fly, but the "About" now says B5.  Running the downloaded installer shows no updates available when run.  Any ideas????

Hello John,

what tells the second and last line in the about box?

And what is stated in the loading screen?

If only the first line in the about box  misses the trailing  'a' , then you have what at least i have.

Thanks. I believe it says in the second line that the latest is 5a.  When I tell it to update from there, it says it is up to date.  Yet, every time I start the program, it says there is an update available and then downloads about 14 MB and says to fly now.  Works okay, but doesn't seem to know where it is.  I believe this has happened before (years ago) but I believe the solution was to insert Disc 1.  I run the program with the USB.  Maybe I'll try removing the USB and inserting Disc 1 without it.

John,

I have the same issue but I'm running off of disc 1.

Running directly from the disc - with no USB - didn't work either.

I'm making another clean copy of 10.45 to see if it will update properly.

John

edit:  I made another beta copy of 10.45 clean.  I updated to the latest beta (185 MB) and am not getting the update prompts on this one.  BTW - It happened before, but I blamed it on the bad B3 beta and created a new copy to get rid of it.

Now the top lines of about are:

X-Plane 10.50 beta (64 bit)

The Current beta version of X-Plane is now X-Plane 1050b5a

and at the bottom, it says:

You have the latest X-Plane Beta

Still don't understand what is going on...  Shouldn't have to make a new copy each time.  Also, when I restart after doing this, it is always at Seattle.  No problem saving airport for later restarts.  Little different/weird...
