FSX:SE Windows 10 CTD after alt + enter and clicking desktop.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Rather new to simming and this is my first post after just joining the Avsim community (I do apologize if this thread is in the complete wrong place)

So recently when I've been flying on FSX:SE I've been ALT + Entering to get into window mode and then check ATIS and Skyvector and other sites on Chrome while flying but as soon as i get into window mode and click on my desktop FSX crashes. I've got some event viewers which I think should help someone hit the nail on the head here and basically any help is appreciated. Do bear in mind I have been googling for about 2 weeks now a fix to this and have still come up short.

Disclaimer: I am using a laptop and it actually runs really well 20-40 FPS with FTX sceneries, REX OD and Aerosoft A320 which is surprising but it does run well. These crashes never used to happen!

Straight from my event viewer I get 2 Application errors -

First one

NTDLL.DLL errors usually mean you are trying to do too much with what you have.  Best advice I have is

to start ramping down on things that cause your CPU to stress itself.  Less AI, turning off features like  light

bloom and lens flare,  aircraft labels,  adjust water slider to low 2's, lower road and boat traffic.  That should

be a good starting point.

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱
Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!

Okay thank you for your input. It's really weird that this has been happening just over the last 2 weeks where the previous months I'd been using FSX with all the addons and same cfg and settings I was able to multi task and be fine.
