DTG Flight Simulator News Thread [Officia]

I think its not the case of a couple of days, it is just that the deadline repeatedly gets put back.

This, but also, at least for me, is the lack of any real, fun info about the new flight sim.

I would love to hear a few bullet points of how this new flight sim will be different than FSX-SE.

Or at least what improvements have been made/added.

Something. This flight sim has to have some features firmly baked in that DTG can mention or at least hint at.

I'm guessing the people at DTG have never read the story of "The Boy That Cried Wolf". Based on the lack of comments on Steam, regarding the latest news, most are now at a point that they no longer care and until something is shown, they will just continue to tune it out.

Personally, I would not want to work on the PR team when (and if) this new sim gets finished to the point they want to start talking about it. I have no doubts, there will be many that will just tear it to shreds on little things that could have been dealt with along the way, if only DTG had said something earlier, but instead waited until it was to late to change it.

It's sad to say, ALL of the real information that has been stated about this new sim, in the past 2 years, could be written on a gum wrapper, in a readable font size.

I have a new simulator coming out. It simulates flight sim customers whining about nothing, but that's all I'm telling you until the end of Q2.

I too was disappointed with the DTG "Flying School" release, but I did not feel the need to write about my feelings. I simply uninstalled it and wrote it off as a business expense.

I was not so much worring about those 15 bucks, but I had quite some hopes for the full simulator which I saw fading away given Flight School was the initial step towards the full simulator, which was said to follow quite soon. I extrapolated to what what was to expect, and this took me all hope.

As a GA flyer, I mostly compare visuals. I have a fully stuffed Prepar3d which (with ASCA, Envtex, and PTA) looks overwhelming, AeroflyFS2 is an alternative great approach, albeit a bit static yet, and XP11 is visually miles ahead of the Flight School graphics as well even without any addons. I don't compare system depth or extensibility, which would be unfair, just the visuals of the engine.

Pretty much the only chance DT could have taken would be to flee forward and replace the MSFS graphics engine by the Unreal one which they have at their disposal from the Train sim, but I doubt they're that clever (aside licensing questions).

Kind regards, Michael

Having been involved in the IT industry for over 40 years, delays such as this do not surprise me.  I'd rather have a solid product that has what's most wanted than one that is lacking.

I do not dispute any persons right to feel bad, nor do I even consider for even a moment censoring their expressions of disappointment here, so long as it is not inflammatory, profane, et cetera. What I do roll my eyes at however is a "Virgin Post" from some anonymous stranger (I know, that's redundant) that is entirely negative and provocative.

I too was disappointed with the DTG "Flying School" release, but I did not feel the need to write about my feelings. I simply uninstalled it and wrote it off as a business expense. Although the frame rates were astonishingly terrific, when I considered the near total lack of systems depth, such a high rate was no longer so surprising...

Roll your eyes at my "Virgin Post" all you'd like.  Yes.  That was my very first post on Avsim.  Yes.  This is my second.   No.  I do not like the fact that it appears as if DTG is giving out false hope and empty promises on a consistent basis regarding information release on this product.  If you have no intention of releasing even the slightest bit of information, then simply do not come on the thread and tell the readers that you are going to (on multiple occasions) only to later disappoint.

That's always true. However, Flight School was certainly delayed (at least according to the initial schedule seeing the full sim around that time) but still was lacking.

Delayed and lacking doesn't exclude, unfortunately.

Michael, have you ever considered that it is quite possible - even likely! - that most of the reason for this long delay has been DTG's reaction to the intense negativity displayed to their "Flight School" release? That they realized they would really have to "step up their game" by going back to a clean slate and building anew?

As Aimee stated (paraphrasing here) "there's only one chance to make a first impression". So having fumbled the "Flight School" preview, they've determined not to repeat that experience?

No opposition, I did, and this is why I am still around in these groups with a minor rest of hope.

Most people waiting for this sim probably do not question the delays per se... that happens a lot in software development as we all know, and is actually a good thing in a lot of cases for a lot of reasons.

The real question in my mind is why has there not been a single screenshot of any kind released to preview just what's coming, especially for a sim that was slated to be released last year? Very odd, and has fueled the disappointment some are showing here.

Nevertheless, still watching and waiting to see just what DTG has up their sleeve... holding out hope it's all been worth the wait.

Not to fuel the Tinfoil Hat-wearing folk, but I see that a new member of the DTG group has taken over Martin's position. Hmmmmm

Open your eyes and look at Flight Scool and you see, if you don't close them, that Dovetail has jumped in too big boots and taken too big bite to publish anything decent.

Honestly, after the Steam user reaction to Flight School, and now the reaction to CSX Trainsim World, if I were DTG I would be feeling very very cautious too. I'm hoping they have pulled out every stop they have, because I can't imagine the consequences for them if their full flightsim faceplanted as well.
