Another Exeter EGTE Departure

Recommended Posts

Ed has shown the heavy metal, but now we go looking for AI, a smaller craft is required. Last time we left, it was in a King Air, and there was not enough AI:

A quick visit to WOAI fixed that, the choice of flyable aircraft this time a little older and slower perhaps:

The UK2000 static aircraft hold their own out front:

She's a gracious old lady, the Seneca. Have to remember to do all that fuel/prop stuff.

The hop is Exeter - Guernsey, in search of Channel Isles AI

One of the benefits of FS9 is you can plug in older airport sceneries and get away with it :)

But a 5-minute hop and here we are in Jersey EGJJ (just because we can). You might click through to the original shot below, you can't see the rivets here...

Turned out to be a 3-point landing, let me show you:

Newly refreshed AI suitably busy:

...and Gary's statics blend well with GA AI sprinkled throughout.

Next stop will be France VFR... Exeter was a surprising scenery, and provided a good springboard to the Foreigners across the water. Here we will pause...

Very nice WingZ! :Applause:  Exeter looks wonderful with both your AI and Gary's statics.

I find Gary's grass to be very very good ....don't you? :Cuppa:

P.S 8.5/10 for landing. I would like to have seen a touch more flare,

It's nice flying GA into ports that can handle the heavies as well.

I remember how exiting it was on my first solo (RW) flying into Kemble EGBP runway length 6,561 ft

Shame on Carenado for giving up on FS9.   :Hmmmph:

Yup I've grown more fond of Gary's stuff over time, lots to like.

On looking at the clip I think a 6... nosewheel first!

The aircraft floats down like that, you do have to actively flare.

And yes, Carenado was the only lot doing high-poly work in FS9, a shame to see it go.

Very nice. I hope for sequels by both of you - WingZ with the Seneca to France and Ed with the Antonov to... whereever beyond the Ural or Caucasus!

Still do not have the time for full flights Harald. It was all I could do to get this three point landing together for WingZ.

Luvly, I'd say probably: 10

But then if you have an aircraft you can fly from the bomb aimer's position...

There will be better times, surely. And: The landing is the more superb.

Your An-12 has rotating ventilators! :Hypnotized:

rotating ventilators!

Comes from single-engine pilot training: it brings a feeling of security.

The propeller is just a big fan in the front of the plane to keep the pilot cool. Want proof? Make it stop; then watch the pilot break out into a sweat.

Never saw it that way. Soviet pilots old school... Didn't miss it much in the propellerless Tupolev until now, but now I want to have one!

Back on topic... this little freeware gem popped up, a repaint on Warwick Carter's Tiger Moth.

Based in Yarcombe, Devon, which is just up the road from here.

Exeter has a bunch of double wingers standing about and I thought this might be a good way to explore the scenery, low and slow.

Of course, you have to see the landing...
