uiautomationcore.dll in P3D v3.3

Recommended Posts

So today I was flying from Denver to SFO in the NGX. I had just installed P3D v3 over the weekend along with FTX Norcal. I was flying from Flightbeam's Denver to Flightbeam's SFO. At FL300 directly over the Yosemite valley, I experienced a CTD. Back when I had FSX, I used the uiautomationcore.dll file. Do you need this in P3D v3 as well? Also, is there a way for me to find out what caused P3D to crash? I've noticed when other people experience a CTD, they post an error log. How do I find this? The only option I was presented with was an option to close the program now. That's also why I didn't post this into the FTX support forum or over at the PMDG forum. I don't know what could have caused it. It was not an OOM error either.

Regards,

Rob

To see a Crash Log...............

Download Download AppCrashView   Open the File and Extract it   Right Click on AppCrashView.exe and run as administrator

It will bring up a list of Crashes you had all time and date stamped.  Click on the Crash you want to Investigate to Highlight it and Copy the Tex in the bottom box and Paste it here All of it

I've never heard of anyone installing uiautomationcore.dll in P3D, I don't think it is needed. To figure out the crash details you can use the Windows Event Viewer, no need to install additional programs for this purpose.

Your description (PMDG plane, ORBX Norcal, FLightbeam KDEN) is a pretty demanding setup. Could it be that you simply ran out of memory?

Nah, I did not get the OOM notification. It said Prepar3D encountered a problem and needs to close - Please wait while windows searches for a solution. I was in a pretty isolated location right over Yosemite Natl. Park. My scenery sliders have been turned down quite a bit as well. Am at work now. Will figure out and post an error log tomorrow morning.

Apparently the terrain.dll was responsible.

Could be a one off, could be a corrupt mesh or bgl. Maybe try flying the same route and see if it happens again

According to the AVSIM CTD Guide, page 36:

Terrain.dll - Usually indicates high scenery/terrain settings, especially Autogen. Restart sim to see if the error reoccurs. Most of the time, the error occurs on a whim.

So I tried re-flying the flight today.  I got all the way down to about a 10 mile final for RWY 28R at SFO.  I went to click on the MFD in the NGX to expand it and as soon as I did that I got a CTD.  Looks like Couatl.dll was to blame this time.  If it helps, I was also running AS16 + ASCA.

Here's the error log:

Looks like Couatl.dll was to blame this time. If it helps, I was also running AS16 + ASCA.

Couatl is the security module for FSDT or FlightBeam airports (KSFO HD belongs to FlightBeam).  Unfortunately there was a problem with the airport and it was not registered properly (check under Addons>FlightBeam>KSFO HD).  Sometimes Couatl loses focus and cannot activate the airport.  I have been successful in clicking on the Menu>Addons>Couatl>Restart Couatl to get KSFO reactivated but it appears you were running low on VAS during your landing into KSFO and Couatl did not have the resources to check to see if KSFO HD was registered properly or not.  You can go to FSDT Forums and see if there is a solution.

I have always had problems with KSFO. I had KSFO Blue Print add on, but got rid of it because it would cause fatal errors with PMDG 747 when I would go to the fuel menu and change the fuel level while at the gate, when I went back to the screen a CTD would occur. I also have Flightbeam KSFO. But no matter what KSFO add on airport I have, I get fatal errors either on taxi, or after take off and it has been that way for years. I made 4 attempts this weekend to fly from KSFO to KJFK. The first flight was with a Level-D 767 and I was on final approach at KJFK when the fatal error took place. Actually, I was surprised I was able to fly out of the San Francisco bay area without a fatal error! Today I attempted again with a QW757 and got a fatal error over Sacramento at about 25,000 feet. I made a third attempt and got a fatal error over Reno, Nevada. And the fourth attempt I got the fatal error with Level D767 at the gate when I clicked on the add on menu button. I don't have these problems at other add on airports such as KLAX, KDFW, EGLL, etc. Just departing KSFO and it has been a constant problem for some reason. Another California airport where I get nothing but fatal errors is the FSX default Sacramento KSMF. I have never been able to land, or fly very far without a fatal error from that airport, and it is not even an add on airport! So I have KSMF off limits.
