Should you use P3D's menu or GSX when starting from the gate?

Recommended Posts

I have GSX, and I know there's a feature to pick which gate to use when starting the game, however P3D's menu also allows you to do this. I'm wondering which method is better or more prefered?

I was told to use GSX's menu to do this instead of P3D.

I am finding with using the GSX menu (Shift F12) isnt working as it should in v3.3  It seems to not have all the choices when i am taxing in. I will try it through P3D's menu and see if its different. (I did try a new install of GSX but it didnt fix it)

Hi Richie,

GSX window (any Scaleform window, since 3.2) can be manually resized.

Hope it helps. Cheers,

I'm having problems, Pressing CTRL+F12 or SHIFT+CTRL+F12 doesn't seem to bring up anything for me. I've checked the key settings and they are correct. Any ideas?

I'm in P3D 3.3.5

I purchased GSX and seems to work OK on v3, however one thing I find very annoying is when it tells me my parking is not big enough to provide me with ground services, when in fact the aircraft is parked at a heavy gate or cargo that is used in real life by such aircraft. So no ability to pushback, etc, etc. - Another issue is that a large number of gates and parking areas are missing at major airports and therefore one cannot use the follow me vehicle to guide you to the desired parking. My verdict 5 out of 10.

I may agree with you on this as I too find the same issues of the sim-selected parking Afcad conflicting with GSX.Maybe it has an issue with the sim's(in my case FSX-SE) Afcad database? I have to manually adjust the parking area in GSX's menu to get it to accept the parking size.

Is this a problem or bug that can be fixed in an update for GSX? I am using P3D v3.3.5 and haven't really gotten a chance to mess with GSX that much yet.

This happens because the max wingspan of the parking is too small, but the good news is you can use the GSX menu to change it manually. I can't remember exactly what the option is called as I'm not near my P3D computer, but inside the GSX customization menu there's a wingspan option with a small airplane button next to it. Just find your parking space on the left, then click that button and it will set the number to your current aircraft's wingspan (or maybe bigger, I'm not 100% certain). Now the parking will work.

Thank you for the information, didn't realise you could do that. Will look into it.

Thanks from me too Mike. I often had to customise parking positions to say that it didn't have a jetway but I never noticed an option to increase the alloted wingspan area for a parking stand. Like Joaquin, I often get the same message saying the parking area is too small and I have to use a different method for pushback.

Best regards,

You should really read the manual so that you'll know about all the cool features that you might not otherwise know about. There are all kinds of customizations.
