Windows Defender seeing P3D as Malware!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

What the hell is going on!!

I have just tried to re-install P3D and Windows 10 Defender flags up Prepar3D Set.exe as malware and removes it!!

Anyone else seen this and why on earth hasn't Lockheed Martin sorted this with Microsoft??

If you have a good anti virus, I use Webroot, you don't need windows defender. Just turn it off.

Just add P3D directory in Windows Defender exceptions, easy fix.

I am sadly still getting the same problem .... Windows Defender informs me that the setup exe is malware and decides to uninstall it .....

I then decided to download just the setup exe individual component and then de-activate Defender in order to install Prepar3D which all went fine

About half an hour later Defender once again notified me that it was removing the 'so called' malware but as I had installed Prpear3D successfully I didn't worry about it .....

The one thing I have noticed is that there are now only three entries listed under 'Uninstall a program' in the 'Control Panel

The only three entries listed are:-

Install Client

Install Scenery

Install Content

The thing is .. Prepar3D is working fine so should I be unduly worried?

Cheers

Paul

Are you using smartscreen filters? I have this disabled as I know what I'm downloading :)

Common problem. Hopefully LM will address it with the AV providers.

Hi, the problem is in Windows defender. I also encountered this. Here is another thread on this topic

By the way, thanks for the links!

All flight sims meet the definition  of malware. They slow your PC's performance, are annoying, take control of your computer and drain your bank account, without you even noticing that the money is gone.
