VoxATC on FSX Doesn't Get Past "6.52 Initializing"

Recommended Posts

Can't find anything on this in the forums so starting a new topic. If it's not in the right place please advise.

Installed VoxATCX on a Windows 10 PC that's using FSX. Thought I'd done all the essentials, according to the VoxATC Help pdf (aka User Guide): e.g. disabled FSX ATC; filed an FSX flightplan; got FSX to put me on the starting airfield and tuned comm 1 to (nearly) the right frequency (I say nearly because the frequency is 120.375 but the nearest the radio would allow was 120.38); went through the voice recognition training in VoxATC which worked, presumably showing that the mike works OK and the headset gives me engine sounds so the headset looks fine; brought up the VoxATC panel from FSX Views/Instrument Panel/VOXATC; and at this point I thought everything was all set to go. But on the panel was a statement "6.52 Initializing ..." and this was still there 20 minutes later after I'd flown from Beccles to Norwich in the 300CBi with no sign of any recognition of my flight plan or controller responses of any kind.

It looks as though I might have missed out at least one crucial step. Can anyone offer any advice? The installed software is "trial for 7 days". I hoped to pay for it after checking everything works OK, shame I'm not able to do that just yet.

There is a support forum under Commercial Support Forums ( Unofficial and Official).

Have you run the VOXAtc indexer, this needs to be run so VOXATC can recognise airfields from installed scenery and installed aircraft.

Sorry, that should be the VOXATC indexer and the VoxATC Panel setup. The later enables you to define the aircraft you intend to use.

Thanks rjevansuk. Yes I'd already run the Indexer and Panel setup before reporting the problem. Advice could well be where you advised and I'll look there.

From personal experience, you need to run the indexer everytime you modify fsx, whether it is scenery or new aircraft even if you change the flight number or airline callsign from the aircraft selection menu. Also, run it after you change voxatc joystick setup, voice recognition or traffic density.

That is useful. I've only run the Indexer once and since have changed callsign and possibly other things that might need a re-indexing. I'll give it a go and report back. Many thanks.
