I used to live in Morris County, and my goodness this airport is a joke! Nothing but delays and of course, always at the mercy of Newark. You can always expect some sort of traffic management initiative.

Considering the amount of daily operations at TEB, the airport runs surprising well. One of the few airports I know of with no fewer than 5 competing FBOs!

 

Unfortunately, there are no other good options - TEB itself cannot expand, and there is no other place to build an new airport. Morristown (MMU) is an option for GA flights, but the runways are rather short, and the NYC business clientele who prefer TEB do not like the fact that MMU is a much farther drive from the city. TEB is only minutes away from midtown Manhattan.

 

Stewart Field (SWF) in Newburgh has long been proposed as a reliever airport for NYC, and has lots of room, (and a huge runway) - but again, the distance and ground travel time from the metro area is a problem.

 

The new "Quiet Visual" approach to TEB was not well thought out. It has some very prominent landmarks, like the Sheraton hotel in Mawah, but expecting arriving flights to precisely follow the twists and turns of Route 17 is not reasonable. It would be difficult enough for locally-based flight crews who know the lay of the land, and especially difficult for pilots who are not familiar with the area.
