BTW are you adding the grain, or is it a PP feature in XP?

 

It would be nice to see the same images without it, as it act like a veil.

It's a PP effect available in MaxxFX or Reshade. It's supposed to make the image more cinematic, less CGI-esque, a lot of modern game engines use it for that purpose, so I thought it's only fair to treat X-Plane with it. Especially with clouds it works wonders, as it seems to add depth and detail.

Ah okay :)

 

I've used these sort of effects in other titles and it can and does add a cinematic quality, and it can also help disguise aliasing to some degree. I'm sure, when full sized on you monitor, without additional compression it would look rather cool.
