new monitor for 777

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I primarily fly the 777-300ER, will also get the 747 v2 when it is released.

I want to upgrade my monitor, I will be using a single display.

I am thinking something in between 29" to 34".

What would be the best resolution, I am hoping to go either 2560x1080 or 4k.

any advise on screen size and resolution is much appreciated.

Thanks

I've got a 27" dell I've had for years and been really happy with it. That said I've been looking a bigger ones as well. The 34" 21-9 ratio looks ribteresting. Wonder how the vertical field of view would be with it.

I moved to a 32-in Samsung 2K monitor this year and I love it.  At first, it seemed to be too big but that only lasted a few minutes.  Flying the virtual cockpit is much easier and I rarely use 2D popups anymore.  I am actually thinking about moving this one to my second desktop and getting a larger one...., but I don't have a wife to explain it too.

What about 2 Ultra Wide Monitors at 21:9 vs 3 at 16:9?

What about 2 Ultra Wide Monitors

Either 1 or 3 monitors... 2 monitors don't quite workout... the bezel cuts across right in the middle

Would love to see the virtual cockpit of PMDG 737/777 and Aerosoft Airbus A318-A321 in a 21:9 aspect to get an idea of how great the FOV is. I'm thinking about either getting a 43" 4K UHD TV or a 21:9 Ultra Wide Monitor. What would be better for flight simming and overall gaming purposes?

Get a 50" TV as a monitor! = Awesomeness.   Seriously if you are going 4K why get a small expensive monitor? I use a Vizio D50u-D1 4K TV.  Sells for about CAD$700 in Canada. I was using a GTX970 in 4K without a problem in P3Dv3 with all the high end add-ons from PMDG, ORBX and ASN.  Was getting 25-30 PFS.   I just upgraded to a GTX1080 and I have my frames lock at 30 and I hold 30 all the time in 4k.  I get absolutely zero eye strain from the TV and I am only 30" from it! The TV Has PC mode so its a giant monitor.  And no lag :)

I think 50" is too big for it being 30" away. For me, I'd go with a 40-43"

Are you using any AI traffic add-ons, and what are the specs on your machine? Whose the manufacturer of your GTX 1080?

Nope. If anything I wish I went bigger.  50" feels a little small after a few weeks :P . 40-43" is too small.  That's a 27" monitor next to my 50" TV.

LG 34UM64 is big..but the resolution ain't that great

  • 2560 x 1080

Quote "Cons: Yes, the pixels are visible. I know that many owners of this monitor did not emphasize that but pixels are visible. When you try to decrease font it is so obvious that no one ignore that. I am giving 4 stars due to that."

For the price, its an option.
