Is this just the biggest rip off?

Recommended Posts

Oren,I've been messing around with the Tu-154 all night and I must say I'm quite impressed. It definitely is payware quality. Thanks for the recommendation, if only I could read Russian now...

You will know *some* russian shortly.Anyway,I agree with many of the statements on your first reply to me. I did not try to imply that the PMDG 744 is not a good product or even excelent. However, I still feel its overpriced. I am very positive that compared to 'regular' pc games, the amount of work has been minimal. Then again, PMDG faces a much smaller market.I do not care about features I can't 'feel' in the sim. You're right that I did not fly the Real B744 and B767 then compared their flight model to their sim counterparts. However, I can still judge them by their performance compared to published numbers, their systems compared to real life manuals etc.Since I do not fly often using the VC on heavies, I don't care much for the VC gauge readability. The difference in this field is not that big for me.One remark I must correct - It should not be obvious I favor analog panels better. I fly anything that flies (see links below). I enjoy the process of learning more than anything else. And since RFP744 did not bring much news to this field (after I mastered the 767 and 737), the high price makes even less sense to me.I do feel there's more 'soul' in the older planes, where more flying is involved and less button pressing. But learining the high end system is very interesting and I do Enjoy that too.Now just for the sake of showing the variaty of aircraft I fly (and take a releief fromt he heated debate):Tel Aviv at night, Diamond Katana:http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?t=31560IFR Training with a Cessna:http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?t=31592727 Cargo:http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?t=33155Piper Cub:http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?t=34917LDS 767:http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?t=37390http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?t=38026http://www.tfc.rwy12.com/modules.php?name=...=article&sid=15Tu154B:http://tfc.rwy12.com/modules.php?name=News...=article&sid=27http://tfc.rwy12.com/modules.php?name=News...=article&sid=33PMDG 737:http://tfc.rwy12.com/modules.php?name=News...=article&sid=31http://www.tfc.rwy12.com/modules.php?name=...=article&sid=25PMDG 744:http://tfc.rwy12.com/modules.php?name=News...=article&sid=29http://online.vatsimindicators.net/825051/142.png

Ryan,You don't have to speak russian (though it might help you a bit with the labels) :)There's a 165 page long manual in english. If you still have any issues, you can use the forum:http://www.protu-154.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=2You will also find there all sorts of bits and pieces that don't come with the default installation (KLN90B GPS, weather radar, alternative altis etc.)To be fair, I have to admit the plane is a product of several YEARS of ccontinueous development, the plane have seen about a dozen release versions - and shall see more.Currently all efforts are directed towards two major projects that are in a relatively advanced stage.1) a brand new model for an Illyushin IL-622) a brand new Tupolev Tu-154-M. (which should see a great improvements over the B in all aspects - panel bitmaps, FDE , new modelled systems etc.)//Michael

You have a point there. However, once you take up on the challenge and learn one complex high end addon inside out, the others will be much easier.I consider myself a blend of category 2, 3 and 4 as I do learn complex aircraft inside out, but then my interests shift to a different type of flying. Sometime later they might shift back. And then again, I have also comitted the sin of painting from time to time...http://online.vatsimindicators.net/825051/142.png
