End of old NOAA Weather web service...

Recommended Posts

Planned for June, got shutdown only today, at 1800 Z

http://www.nws.noaa.gov/dm-cgi-bin/c...n=DM051602.txt

May affect some add-ons for FSX, X-Plane and other flight simulators. Even SkyVector.com  was apparently caught... ( ? )

There are alternatives though...

Main Simulation Rig:

Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti, 1 TB & 500 GB M.2 nvme drives, Win11.

Glider pilot since 1980...

Avid simmer since 1992...

Thank you for the info, realized that some of my personal projects were affected.

Sadly, it seems like there are no direct replacements for this service.

It makes raw METARS very hard to obtain now...

RAW text METARS and TAFS.... really useful for programming as they provide direct data

There's an alternative site ( https ) and after a few hours the old site was up again :-)

At least my ELITE and PSX METARs are already being correctly downloaded :-)))

That one! Sorry for the late reply Keven.

Anyway, they have put the old site back up 2 days ago. You should be able to D/L again from there, but we just don't know for how long :-/

You could also try AvnWx... it's a really good website with RL METAR, TAF & PIREPS (when a Pilot posts one).
