Installing the English-US Language Pack and Speech on Win 10

On my side I'm using AT&T voices flawlessly since a long time (W7 and W10).

Their quality maybe lower than Ivona's, but as I deliberately downgrade the sounds to be closer to the real ATC feeling, it's not a problem at all

Thanks for sharing.  Will have to give them a closer look.

I am so pleased with current progress with Ivona that I purchased a few more to take advantage of the code 'CYBERMON20'.  I had 8 ivona loaded and today will be 12.  If pilot2atc is stopping or crashing and  you have ATC Chatter files try disabling them to see if your experience improves.

Hello guys. I follow the installation of Pilot2atc 2.5 version, it was working. But now it doesn't work.

When i click on "connect" the message "Unable to locate Speech recognition language. Be sure Us-English pack is installed".

So i installed it and i set it on primary language.

Xuipc is installed on xplane plugins folder.

My microphone works well.

I uninstalled and reinstall, but still have this message. I don't know what to do.

Thanks for your help.

Quite a few folks have had difficulty getting the US English language pack and speech engine installed.  Part of the problem is that after you install the language pack, you have to do an additional step to install the Speech engine.

Here's a link to a site that does a pretty good job of explaining the process.

http://www.laptopmag.com/articles/change-cortanas-voice-windows-10

Step 11 is the one where you install the Speech Recognition Engine.  BE SURE TO DO THIS STEP.

Steps after 11 set the new language as your default and are not necessary in order to use Pilot2ATC.

Hope this helps some of you.

Dave

Check your language settings.  In Windows 10, Settings->Windows Time & Language settings section:

Region Tab:
Country or region – United States
Regional format – May work with your native lang.  If not set to: Recommend [English (United States)]
Language Tab:
Windows display language – May work with your native lang.  If not set to: English (United States)
Preferred languages – English(United States) at top of list
Speech Tab:
Speech Language – English(United States)
Recognize non-native accents for this language – Check if you are not a native US English speaker

I follow the instructions step by step. But the microphone symbol does not appear next to the english us language default. When i try to download speech and keyboard in voices section, nothing happen.

When you click on English US in the Language list and press Options, you will see a section named Speech.  If you have already installed the English US Speech engine, then there will be a link to "Settings", otherwise, a Download or Install button....I don't remember which.

If it says settings, then you can press that and select English US for the Speech Language.

I have English US as my primary language, but also have Spanish installed including for voice recognition. I wonder if I should remove the voice recognition for Spanish?

There is an awesome new video on YouTube. Search for installing voices in Pilot2ATC. I got a whole bunch of great new voices and there appears to be no limit to the number available. They come directly from Microsoft and are free....

Ok the video above should be pinned at the top of this forum.  It is a must for anyone using P2ATC.  I spent $150AUD on 3 x Cereproc voices thinking they would add to the realism however although they sound great, the delay in response when they speak is so annoying as to make them useless in my opinion.  I had 18 free voices sitting in my Win10 that I couldn't use after having installed different windows language packs.  I was missing this key ingredient that is detailed in the video above.  I now have a great range of male and female voices to add to the immersion.

I loved the video, but when I went to edit the registry my installation of windows 10 became unstable. Where did you find 18 voices in your windows 10 install? I think I found 6, but lost them all in my reinstall of windows.
