Recorder module 0.72 beta released

Recommended Posts

Hi Bob,> I also find myself wondering if the underlying playback code>could be used to develop a means for real-time playback on a>networked PC...something I've tried several times over the>years with little success is to have the ability to put an>external view of the airplane up on a second PC running FS.Should be possible. What the playback code does, is: read data from the file, interpolate between the recorded samples and write the interpolated values to FS once per frame. The only difference in the scenario you describe would be, that the data comes via network instead of from a file.Regards,Matthias

Just out of curiosity, are the data snapshots serialized or time-stamped? One difference with a networked app would be some need to keep the data in sequence I'd think.Anyway, thanks again...saw the coming updates...quite a work of art you have going here.CheersBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile

William273,I think this was asked a while ago and Matthias replied that his recorder only records the aircraft position, attitude and state, similar to the FS9 recorder. Therefore for others to see your video masterpice they would need FS9 as well, and for accuracy the same plane.

Matthias,I asked for an option to be included recently but I think you may have missed it.I often forget to save the recording after I've landed so it would be useful if the utility could do it automatically. Perhaps the airspeed dropping below a certain speed could be used to automatically save the recording? As for a filename I'll leave that to you if you feel the suggestion is worthy. Files can be easily renamed afterwards.Cheers,

Guest william273

yea, i expected you'd have to have FS9, and it makes sense you'd also need the same aircraft like when flying online, ya don't want to be flying a 747 and be seen as a cessna but i get the picture. thanks for the reply. william

Hi Ray,>I asked for an option to be included recently but I think you>may have missed it.The next version is not finished yet, I'm still working on it. There will be more features, the list I posted just contains, what is already done.>I often forget to save the recording after I've landed so it>would be useful if the utility could do it automatically.>Perhaps the airspeed dropping below a certain speed could be>used to automatically save the recording? To me it would make more sense, if the module saves the recording, when you exit FS or load another flight, while you are still recording. To stop recording automatically after landing without a dialog asking, if you want to continue recording, doesn't make much sense to me. But as such a dialog wouldn't be accessed via the menu, it would have the fullscreen-problem (invisible dialog window in fullscreen mode). What do you think?Regards,Matthias

Matthias,Saving the flight on exit or switching to another flight sounds fine. I just need a way of ensuring that once a recording is started it can be stopped and saved without me needing to remember to do it.I was thinking of a user-defined option to save the recording once the air speed had dropped below a certain value. I didn't intend for it to be mandatory. As I only fly in windowed mode I hadn't considered the problems associated with full-screen mode.Cheers,

UDP packets would require some re-ordering probably, but realistically on a local 100 meg switched network, you'd get 99.9 percent of the packets in the correct order anyway. And since you wouldn't really give a crap about "bandwidth optimization" on a local network, just use TCP anyway- much easier.

Hello everyone, I wanted to know if the recordings from this module can be converted for MPEG4 or any other video format. From what I have read, this is not possible. Is there any recording software for FS9 that will do this? This module looks nice, and I hope I can. I thought I had read somewhere about a user making a DVD or VHS? Best regards, Jeff

Hi all, here some more things I added this weekend:- custom keyboard controls:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/133576.jpg- auto stop recording (for Ray Proudfoot ;-) ):http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/133575.jpg- recording of nav radios, com radios, prop&mixture- if you exit FS or load a flight/aircraft, while recording, you will be asked to save the recording- finally I solved the fullscreen dialog problem :-)I hope to release the new version next weekend.Regards,Matthias
