Prepar3d just hangs on startup

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

p3d 3.3.5, everything was working fine, now the problem is, when I run prepar3d the splash screen disappears at about 5% into building scenery, and that's it, it wont complete the load, problem is, the process is still running, so because it hasn't actually crashed, there are no logs in event viewer or anything to indicate what the problem is.

Is there anywhere else I can look for logs that would indicate what the issue is? I have removed all my new addons, and rebooted, and cleared shaders folder etc but still same issue.

In many cases this is due to erratic content in dll.xml or exe.xml files. Best way to investigate, make a  backup copy of those files and delete the original ones. See what happens. When P3D loads correctly you have to investigate which entry in the xml files is the culprit. If you have ASN or AS16 running, run the latest patch/update again, this has sometimes cured my dll.xml and has repaired depending files.

legend thanks for that, renaming both those files allows me to startup. when I can be bothered this weekend ill have to play trial and error to figure out what is causing the issue!

Also check to see if your default scenario is causing it...check the Prepar3d.cfg and delete the default scenario= "Whatever your default scenario is.XXX" entry, leaving just "Default scenario="
