P3D v3.3.5.17625 Crashing on Startup

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I'm coming to Avsim in hope of getting more answers for a problem I posted in the Prepar3d forums in mid July, that has since seemed to be abandoned. I'm simply going to copy and paste the original OP and link the thread, so you can see what I have already done in an attempt to try and troubleshoot. I'd really appreciate any help or suggestions, and I'll do my best to be as cooperative as possible so we can hopefully find a solution. Thanks!

OP:

Hey guys

Recently I unintalled P3D after not playing it for a while, and, as always happens when you uninstall something, I then got the urge to play it again. Having downloaded the latest version (which I have now done from both Chrome and Firefox) and successfully installing it (with AV disabled), the game will not load. When launching, it will build the scenery database, then experience a fatal error.

Using appcrashview, it displays this:

On top of this, I have used the Event Viewer, and it shows this:

I have searched around the internet, and tried updating my Nvidia drivers, reinstalling, using a different browser, lowering my overclock, and deleting the Prepar3D.cfg, Prepar3D_Default.fxml and Prepar3D_Default.wx files, and I always experience the same problem.

It worked totally fine before I uninstalled it (must have been P3D v3.1), but now, no matter what I do, I can't get it to launch.

My systems specs are:

  • i5 4690k @4.0Gh0z
    GTX 760
    16GB RAM
    1TB HDD

If you need any more information, just ask and I will see what I can do.

Thanks in advance for the help

When you Uninstalled Prepar3D Originally did You Delete all 5 Folders ?   If Not and you Installed Prepar3d again you were Overwriting old folders with new folders.

===================

Either way,  and if you have No Add On's Installed

Start at the bottom again and Delete these folders in Blue,  Prepar3D.exe will rebuild them again,  This will eliminate these folders from your investigations

Another thing,  Just make sure you have 17 Default Yellow folders in your Core Prepar3D folder ?  I has a similar issue a while back and it turned out i had moved the texture folder into effects,  Don't know how i done it,  but i did

How strange. In C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3 I only have 6 folders. This might need some further investigation.

What folders do you have ? I think your missing either Client or Content   I would say your missing Content,  The 6 folders would be 1 from Scenery and the other 5 from the client Install,  Content has 11 folders which would make up the default 17

Go to your Control Panel "Programs and Features" and check

Prepar3D V3 Client V 3.xx....?

Prepar3D V3 Content V 3.xx....?

Prepar3D V3 Scenery V 3.xx....?..

-----

If your missing Content  Just go to your Prepar3D download folder,  Right Click and Install Content

If Content is there already,  Install it anyway and it will repair it

It appeared that it was not a full install. Repairing Content led it to actually install it this time, and the game appears to launch and load fine. Thanks for the help!
