Changing default settings in Phenom 300 config file

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

I have recently purchased the Phenom 300 V1.3 with the Navigraph extension pack.

How does one make changes to the Phenom 300 configuration file (G1000_configEMBP200.spb) which is contained within CAB files EMB505_G1000(N)? Specifically, I wish to change default settings for Map Orientation and Topography to save having to change them once the aircraft loads up.

The first problem is what type of editor do I use with a .spb file? and secondly, how does one put the config file back into the CAB once the changes are done?

Cheers and thanks

1. Convert the spb file to an xml file (spb2xml.exe) and edit it, using Notepad

2. Create a subfolder to your panel folder with the same name as the cab file

3. Place the edited xml file in that folder

4. Go fly!

Hi Bert,

There must be some secret software trickery needed because I can't get this software to work.

I am running FSX-SE on Windows 8.1, location is C:\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX

Currently I have both spb2xml.exe and G1000_configEMBP200.spb in a temporary folder c:\1 and trying to decompile there.

In cmd I change to this directory and use the line spb2xml.exe G1000_configEMBP200.spb G1000_configEMBP200.xml.

Could you please assist and tell me what I am doing wrong.

Thanks in advance

Ian Miller

I have a shortcut to spb2xml and the spb file on my Desktop.

Drag the spb file to the spb2xml icon.

The xml file appears on the Desktop.

Hi Bert

And if the xml file appears with nothing in it......then what?

Hey Bert,

I manage to figure the problem of the empty xml file.

I deleted the .spb file I was using, extracted a fresh copy, dragged fresh .spb file to spb2xml and hey presto now have an xml file with data in it.

Sheeeeesh....simple when you know how

Many Thanks
