Clive,

Thanks for the P3D Avsim link to ProatcX.

I may try it in P3D later.

I will be testing in FSX now.

Note: I tried the ProatcX forum but it is too busy to get into .... will try later tho.

Wish I could....still can't get the update to download and install.  I'll try again later in the event there is a server issue.

....finally got it installed.  Will try a flight soon!

Update didn't work for me as well, but I downloaded the full installer without any issues. Just make sure you backup your flight plans and airline/airplane data before installing it, and follow the instructions given in the forum.

Just having my first flight with the new version. Very nice so far, everything works smoothly and handling of ground traffic and arriving traffic worked perfectly. I have only two small issues with the new version:

1) Searching for an airline is not easy because you only can list them by country. A search field where you can look up a name regardless of country would be helpful. I do like that one can add new airlines, though.

2) I once closed the Pro-ATC communications window in P3D without entering a number, but by right-clicking on it. After that, I wasn't able to open the window anymore and had to restart the flight.

Here's my first flight with the release version. It's a replay of a live stream I did last night (sorry fr the low mic volume, family was sleeping). The link start from the time where I display my settings I have used for years.

NOTE: In the video description, there are links to different phases of the flight, make sure to watch the (crash) landing (-390fpm).

EDIT: Good flight. One thing I would like to see is runway crossing clearances.

With the positive feedback from Peter is this addon now a viable alternative to Radar Contact?

If so I will purchase this week.

In a word, "Yes" !  Radar Contact was a great program for its time... but the latest ATC offerings have relegated it to the history books.

For IFR flying: yes. For VFR flying: no.

ProATC only supports IFR flights and favors bigger airports.

I still use Radar Contact in VR with my Vive-I get solid reliable ATC every time-so althought it's old and imperfect (there is NO perfect ATC for sims at present) it does the job for me very well.

Tested new version, and menu and interface is much better. Seems more stable too. It still unfortunate an immersive killer when it comes to call signs.

For example, Pilot uses call sign "New Zealand" and that is fine, but some controllers say "A--N--ZEEEE"

I think it is more suited to flying in Europe, with the voices that are used.
