"shimmering" vs "blurred" VC cockpit

Recommended Posts

I recently came back to P3D and for the heck of it "upgraded" to V 3.4 from V 2.5,  which I hadn't touched for almost a year.  Noticed two issues: "shimmering" of the some of the cockpit objects and well as a general blurriness to the VC panel.  I fixed the shimmering with using 4 X SGSS from the Nvidia Inspector app, but everything still looks blurry, or out of focus.  Cannot read any of the text on the panels or GPS. Trying to search for a work around but it was confusing, since many people refer to the shimmering or tearing artifact as "blurring".

I found a post about changing the textures to mipmaps, but the application (DXTBmp)was not straight forward and I abandoned it.  Would changing the textures to mipmaps from DDS help with the blurring, or is this another shimmer fix?

Just looking on hear if someone found any easier solutions to this issue.  Planning to reinstall 2.5 for now.

I read here, that there is an image batch file App that will take your graphics into a more economical and speedier display format... can't remember the name of it though you might do a search here and find it … Or somebody with a better memory than I can repost the link.

This helped a bit with blurring, especially with the G1000 look, but produced some shimmering with some of the printing on the panel.

Went for a nice flight this morning, not a deal breaker, but it just doesn't seem as clear as 2.5.

When you're using 4x SGSSAA check that you are also using 4x MSAA (ingame setting). SGSSAA and MSAA settings should match (so both 2x or both 4x).

You might want to use DSR. It makes your screen a super resolution like I have mine at 4x. So my resolution is 3200*1600. I think might be wrong in the number.

How ever it makes your edges smooth in the sim and it allows you to lower AA because more pixels are used to draw the image needing less AA processing.
