I noticed within the nVidia Inspector mask, that under OpenGL, you now have many choices of which Open GL version you want to run with.  You'd highlight it, and then press APPLY.

Did you notice any differences against frame rate depending on the chosen OpenGL version?

Oh, I never messed around with it...just noted that you now can dial in a version...but didn't do anything as of yet.

I'd imagine that after making your selection...and pressing APPLY, you'd have to restart your system, unless OpenGL only initializes after being called upon...dunno.

This may (and I'm guessing here) only be useful for running some very old OGL apps/games that can't handle newer versions for some reason. The oldest OGL game I have on my system is Return To Castle Wolfenstien and that works fine on the latest version.

I'll try that when I'll use my windows rig, I'd like to see what happen.

Thank you for this interesting info!

I thought that X Plane didn't use NVIDIA Inspector for anything...???

You're welcome.  I don't believe that I have seen that now you have version options, in previous driver suites. This could be the first.

Hello, For me and some others who had that OpenGL problem, I had a happy moment after installing NVIDIA driver 373.06, that this glitch was fixed.
I see today 10/22/16 a new driver is ready to install 357.57.
If u had that OpenGL problem, like me, I'm a little apprehensive about updating to 357.57.
What r your thoughts.

ps: It's sometimes exciting to know exactly when a glitch is fixed and to know exactly what did it....

Could post screenshot of that option?

OpenGL (Open Graphics Library) is the "open source" equivalent of DirectX in Windows. It is the graphics library used in X-Plane as it is supported in all 3 major OS's Windows Linux and OSX. Compare that to FSX which uses DirectX 9 and Prepar3D which uses DirectX11.
