The Yukon in a Ford Trimotor

Recommended Posts

ORBX South Alaska scenery

Our flight plan for today is from Whitehorse to Juneau

It’s 8:00 am and some minus 7 degrees Celsius. We don’t have snow yet in Whitehorse, but we’ll expect plenty on route. With a lot of sputtering, coughing and smoke belching the three engines slowly coax to life. This is none of this instant-on nanny computer controlled stuff and the pilot knows exactly, when it’s time for his priced baby to be finally up and running

Slowly, yet gracefully the Ford takes to the skies

Yes, we might be slow and old, but we are hard working and dependable

Occasionally we are forced to open the windows despite the freezing temps to check on the engine gauges

No modern jet offers such a cozy and classy ambience

Flying in such majestic surroundings can be quite a humbling experience

But you also know, if something happens out here, you are on your own

And then Juneau comes finally into sight

Thanks a lot gents. It was really fun taking the Trimotor out and doing this tour

Is this CR-1 Trimotor?

Yes, Klaus, that's the one. At US$6 she is a steal

What an obscenely bright colour scheme!

Learned something new: Never realised the outboard engine gauges were... outboard of the cockpit! (Not an officianado of the Tri motor, just knew what one was.)

Thats right, not much for this well made plane! I already have bought it

...but I have one problem tough. I cant get EZDOK getting to work with it. When I load the plane I get an error from EZDOK which says it could not write into the ini file and ezdok crashes.

Do you use EZDOK with it?

Lovely shots! Great trip for sure. Would have been something to do IRL.

I live in the Yukon

Yes, Pete, I remember that from my previous flight there in an Antonov An-2

Classy!!  As I always have said--"Real airplanes have propellors!!"

A good friend of mine has narrowed it even further, he states that real airplanes are taildraggers with a big radial. But I have to admit that he might be slightly biased, as he flies a Boeing Stearman
