Surely one of the the main attractions of flying the DC-6, is to re-enact airliner flights of that era, which involved a lot of hands-on flying with little more than the VOR, ADF and ILS to aid with navigation and a rudimentary autopilot to help with the flying? There are plenty of modern airliners out there where you can enter the entire flight into the FMC on the ground and do little more than taxi out to the active and advance the throttles, but, being honest to the aircraft, that's not the way of the DC-6!

What if we want to re-enact Historical Restored museum airshow flights of the current era, where operational flying aircraft, require GPS derived ADS-B out, and mode S transponders to be allowed to fly, and where the Government has decommissioned nearly every VOR, and NDB in the country over 12 months ago (Australia/HARS)?

Oh yes, in fact I'd be happier if PMDG brought out a version without that modern mumbo jumbo, just let me use the equipment on the center pedestal =)

edit: or a second com/nav set instead of that monstrous GPS...

We have included a 'PMDG Bendix (no-GPS)' option, which is selectable from the Realism Option screen. This gives you a non-GPS equipped aircraft with Bendix Nav/Com 1 and 2 as well as ADF.

Cheers,

Henning
