CH Flight yoke + p3d and small GA, whats normal for trim control, nose up/down?

Recommended Posts

I"m narrowing down issues with my sim since reinstalling.. I'm trying to determine if I largely have a flight yoke issue (win 10x64 Redstone) or if its just how the sim is..

What is the real world feel on a flight yoke in a small GA craft such as a 172 Cessna or a p92 eaglet?

When you take off and get to say 1000 feet, still at full throttle, shouldnt the craft still tend to nose upward until you lower the rpm to cruise, then trim for level flight?  (And not want to have constant back on the yoke to keep the nose up this whole time)..

This is what goes on with my ch flight stick.... i have to maintain back pressure just to keep it rising.. the ch flight dial is in the middle.. doesnt seem to matter if its calibrated or not.. i had the ch calibration tool installed at one point but removed it.. i have joysticks unchecked in the sim and use fsuipc (i may need to do a calibration from within fsuipc i suppose)..

The only cure is to use elevator trim, in massive amounts, to keep it to the point where she flys level at cruise speed..

So my question is.. in the real world what is this like?  I took lessons many years ago, but its too far off to remember.. but logic seems to say it should want to nose up, not down at full throttle.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

In real Cessna 152, with flaps up and at cruising speed (80kts), I have to trim little bit to 'nose up' (one notch or so).

It depends on the speed  and configuration. Basically - the faster you are going the more trim down you need.

When you take off and get to say 1000 feet, still at full throttle, shouldnt the craft still tend to nose upward until you lower the rpm to cruise, then trim for level flight?  (And not want to have constant back on the yoke to keep the nose up this whole time)..

In one of the steps before taking off, you set your trim to neutral. Just after you take off you don't have cruising speed. You keep lower speed (speed of best climb or angle), so anyway you need to keep pulling the yoke (or trim again).
