Moving aircaft outside of FS2004

Does it cause any problem moving individual aircraft (free or payware) files in and out of FS2004 for storage when not being used?

Not at all, unless they are referenced by other aircraft. For example, many uploaders often 'alias' the sound folder of the default 737 and so on, or the panel from the default Beechcraft King Air. So I would recommend not removing any of the default aircraft.I keep hangars on my hard drive ... I actually keep them within my FS9 folder for easy access ... called AIRCRAFT HANGAR 1, AIRCRAFT HANGAR 2, etc. You can arrange them how you like. Then before booting up the sim, you can just move any given aircraft's folder into AIRCRAFT if you want to fly it, thereby keeping the number of planes in AIRCRAFT to a minimum which speeds up FS load time at start up.Don't do full uninstalls, though, because then you'll lose all their gauges, effects and sounds that might have come with any given package.Hope this helps. I have thousands of aircraft stored on this basis. Will I ever fly them all? No. Do I look in those folders for information, to check older versions, look for specific comparative models, etc.? Flight Sim Manager 2.8.5 is great for managing this. It will look for all alias or effect/gauge dependencies when hangering aircraft.scott s..

Hi,I constantly move some aircraft to a temporary folder which I keep in the main FS9 folder. I call it "/aircraft on hold" so it is positioned next to the /aircraft folder when viewing the main FS9 folder. one thing to consider is that you will get an error message if you try to load a flight which requires an aircraft which you moved out of /aircraft. Also, as stated before you may have problems if an aircraft references a file located in the folder of one you moved out of /aircraft.have fun..........
