Managerrefdent

Recommended Posts

Just recently I have had a file named 'Managerrefdent.exe' attempt to phone home to Microsoft after failing to load. The file only surfaces when using FS and has a date stamp of 13/10/05 (10/13/05 for some). Does anyone have any idea what it is about and if it is something to worry about? It resides in the c:Documents and SettingsandyApplication DataAdmin for' folderThanksAndy b

AndyI searched my HD for that file name & got no results ( yes I included hidden files & folders). Maybe it's from an addon you recently installed but it doesn't appear to be a native file of flight sim or Windows.Jim

Andy,That sounds suspiciously like a rogue dialler - basically spyware which attempts to dial a number for which you will get charged (ludicrous amounts probably).I would suggest looking at http://www.firewallguide.com under the spyware section and find a freeware spyware remover such as ad-aware or similar to see if it removes it.Jonathan

winfixer is the one I can't get rid of right now even after the detection and so called removal by MS spyware beta.

The folder it is in has some strange executable files where the name are a series of letters that mean nothing.A GOOGLE search delivers no leads at all. I'm gonna move the file to a floppy and re-boot to see what happens. Fortunately if it is a dialler it won't get very far with a cable connection and no link to the phone system. Thanks for your comments.
