Frankfurt to Keflavik via Prestwick with the Tu-134

Recommended Posts

Starting this season's Tu-134 travel! From Germany to Iceland. With a stopover in Scotland, as fuel was expected to be not sufficient for a non-stop flight in case of strong headwinds. And what shall I say, I exerienced headwinds of more than 130 kts...

That went to be a nice crosswind landing. But what the h... does this tiny plane there? Had to go around.

Obviously Prestwick is not the first address to AI lovers. (I even remember thinking hardly about if I should include this very airline in my AI traffic at all.)

But now up to Iceland!

First sight to Iceland. Very impressive and... icy.

Getting near: Glaciers and volcanoes (Eyjafjallajökull?)

So let's close the post with a piece of Icelandic airport art.

(Will visit it next summer in real world!)

Loved the story/set Harald!  :Applause:

Pic no 14 made me smile. Always on short finals is the question..... do I follow the glideslope or PAPI/VASI?. Like you I always go for PAPI/VASI (A lot of G/S in FS need adjusting). But even a PAPI/VASI can catch you out. (thinking Southend).

Great to see the old girl flying. :p0503:

Funny how in my mind I wondered why you'd turn left and go to Prestwick from Germany.

But of course it is absolutely on the way!

Yes, it has other uses though, mostly navigational.

Mine is full of helos and freighters, and the odd Typhoon.

Eyjafjallajökull?

Round here we remember it as: "I forgot the yoghurt"! :)

Nice set, Harald.

Terrific flight, Harald. Thanks for taking us along

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds

My specs: AMD Radeon RX6700XT, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB RAM, 34" monitor, screen resolution: 2560x1080

Thanks HLJames, Ed, WingZ and Bernd. I'm glad you like this journeys; while our friend Gwillmot grumples along.

It's a kind of Columbus thing this year: Go to west to come to the East. I hope I make it around the Arctic Circle to Rovaniemi by Christmas.

Very nice set.  The TU-134 looks like a great plane to fly.

Thanks Pugilist and Imran for commenting. Yes, a great plane; it's "a little" more work while flying, but very satisfying.
