Why is FTX Germany missing from the AVSIM frontpage?

Recommended Posts

Thanks Chuck, for the clear statement. While I understand this, I certainly don't approve it. ORBX is one of the leading makers of landclass-based region sceneries, if not the leading one at all. Cutting it off from announcements is a loose-loose-loose situation: for ORBX, for AVSIM, and for the user.

I think I have said all I have to say on the topic and from my side it can be closed.

Kind regards, Michael

"Ever" is a big word and a long time. Maybe time to bury the feud ?

It takes both sides and Venema is not in the habit of backing away.

I love ORBX products and have invested thousands of dollars and many, many hours enjoying them.

However, like Tom always said, AVSIM is not publically held or run, nor should it be.

Personally, I am delighted to remain an ORBX scenery enthusiast, and an AVSIM loyalist!

Kind regards,

I'm not saying Venema is a bad guy, my point was is that he's not always very good about taking criticism. He has been known to treat customers who voice dissenting opinions about his products with a heavy hand. I'm not sure why he feels that Avsim is aiding in piracy of his products by having a forum dedicated to ORBX scenery. There are multiple developers who have forums at AVSIM who have never indicated that the AVSIM forums were a problem in that regard.

John V is the essential pragmatist (he wouldn't have built his business that big if not)

... as are, I suppose, the Avsim board members. I understand your point, continuity is highly desirable for everything good Tom has built over the years. I wonder whether it is so good for old prurits.

Michael, I think you meant lose, loose...unless of course, something wasn't tightened down to begin with.  :P

No offense, but your approval doesn't really matter.  You can have a negative opinion of someone's rules, or disagree with the way things are handled but I doubt your approval or disapproval sways the operations any.

I say let it go and consider it a lesson learned.  This conversation feels is like Switzerland getting in between the USA and Russia and telling them to get along.  AVSIM and ORBX are very large and influential entities while we sit in the middle and let the chips fall as they may.  If AVSIM chooses to enforce long-held ideals and processes, then let it be.  ORBX also has every right to silence, disavow and redact anything stated anywhere at anytime.
