Tricky HUD and observations

Recommended Posts

Greetings and many thanks for this fantastic edition to my Prepar3D_v3_Academic_3.4.9.18400.

Just a couple of things....

I am having trouble lining up the HUD in the PMDG737NGX or rather I can line it up but I have to go a long way back to get it in the frame. The HUD itself always stays the same size as you move forward or back. If you move forward the hud moves away from its frame but moving back enables me to move it into the frame. I prefer to be closer in but with my ancient eyes I am having trouble reading it. I just finished a flight ksea to ksfo and on landing because I had a forward camera view I had the HUD on the windscreen without its frame, was not to bad.  What a great flight it was with all these new camera views. I am seeing things that I have never seen before in the cockpit!!!!  This is such a new way of flying for me it almost feels like a new simulator!!

One other problem for me is the middle mouse button that brings up the camera views I have saved. With my old hands I find I am rather slow selecting the views I want (sometimes I need to change in a hurry!). The Camera view menu is indeed very slick and I am sure younger folk would be quicker using it than I. Would it be possible to have a set of small icons for each camera view that we can click on once and viola new view? In other words the user selects which option - Mouse or icons - they wish to use?

Can we change the order of the camera views in the menu?

I have noticed that the buttons on the Saitek Throttle Quadrant when used for moving around the cockpit are far smoother to use than the switches on my Saitek Yoke! So for me that is the way to go.

I just love your creation chaps, it is all so beautifully done and to think it is only in Alpha. Sooooo much to look forward!!

Kind regards

Richard

Are you aware you can assign a key / button to your camera views? That should be the quickest way to change from one camera to another.

Press CTRL in the Presets menu to assign a key / button.

No no no I certainly was not aware of that and that will do the trick well indeed.

Many thanks RALF9636.

Kind regards

Hi Richard

Just to chime in, i'm having the same issue with the 737NGX HUD and I dont recall seeing this when using EZDOK. Hope this can be fixed as it limits VC setup possibilities.
