November 5, 20169 yr Hi Melchor Flyinside HAS started beta testing for X-plane. Have a look at this post http://www.mudspike.com/flyinside-x-plane-10/ which says it all really Jay Oh well, it looks I didnt make it for the BETA testing. Anyway happy to see Dan is working on it. It is going to be amazing. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=z2zZS5hqIkc
November 5, 20169 yr I received my Oculus Rift CV1 yesterday and I am hooked. Yes, it needs more resolution, but the feeling of being there is amazing. Cant be described or seen on videos. Must be experienced. I asked Dan if there´s a chance of participating on beta testing, after purchasing Flyinside P3D. I think the experience on XP will be more pleasant than in P3D. I hope to have the chance of testing by myself. November 5, 20169 yr Author Yeah, in spite of what I said above, I might break down and get a Rift, or the Steam thing. My current rig is the minimum requirement (GTX 970, fast CPU and lots 'o RAM). Actually, the more I think about it, it's the other applications where I might use VR that are holding me back. Most of my X-Plane flying is in the FSEconomy game, where it's point-to-point with an hours-long cruise phase where VR wouldn't be useful. I wish I liked Elite Dangerous (space sim) better. Or if there was a VR-enabled combat sim that was drawing me in right now. That's probably what will kick me over the threshold, not so much X-Plane. The rift website has a system checking tool you can use. I have a 970 too and it's sufficient with my Vive.I suspect VR and maybe adding some inclement weather or engine failure will add realism to your otherwise monotonous longhaul stints!Jay
November 5, 20169 yr Sorry, but the experience of actually using the VR headset with the sim trumps everything you said... The sensation is amazing.. Agree completely. You could have 3x4K screens and even a wraparound but NOTHING approaches VR in terms of the reality of height, perspective, size, sensation of flying. While the clarity will get better RIGHT NOW as it exists it is THE dimension of flightsimming that is the future. Sitting in a 747 loading up passengers hooked up to the jetway you have that great sensation that you're in a BIG plane. Nothing, including multimillion dollar 2D simulators approaches it. Hi Melchor Flyinside HAS started beta testing for X-plane. Have a look at this post http://www.mudspike.com/flyinside-x-plane-10/ which says it all really Jay Hi Paraffin The experience right now is pretty good even for first adopters. You are the best judge of your own circumastances obviously, but I felt the same way initially. I'm glad I'm not depriving myself of a year or two of fantastic VR simming. I'd never go back to a flat screen now. Jay The Flyinside 64 bit incarnation for X-Plane will have a significant impact as compared to P3D. Just have to look at AeroFly FS2 64 bit and its native incarnation of VR is fantastic. VR needs GPU power and 64 bit to really shine and by that link provided the blogger has hit the sweet spot. Can't wait for Flyinside's XP incarnation. Ryzen 7 5800x, 64gb, 7900XTX 24gb

If I recall Fly-inside for FSX/P3D supports dragging desktop windows into the sim window, I hope this feature is also present in the X-Plane version.

Not yet unfortunately as the beta is actually an alpha at the moment.I do believe this will be implemented but time will tell. Jay
November 6, 20169 yr does anyone here have glasses ? maybe i am old, but i can't use VR for more than 30-40 minutes and its hot and with glasses not the most comfortable feeling. how people use this everyday for a few hours flying boggles my mind

Very excited about this. does anyone here have glasses ? maybe i am old, but i can't use VR for more than 30-40 minutes and its hot and with glasses not the most comfortable feeling. how people use this everyday for a few hours flying boggles my mind I have ORift and yes using glasses inside was a pain. But I remembered I had an old pair of glasses which were quite good still in the vision. I removed the arms on each side off. I cut out a cardboard shape for the glasses, put the glasses on top and taped them together. Inserted it cardboard first and voila. Works great. You can also buy something similar online but this was cheap and just as effective. Ryzen 7 5800x, 64gb, 7900XTX 24gb
November 6, 20169 yr I wear glasses (typical old-guy presbyopia) but I assume it's not hard to get a diopter correction for that. I'm more worried about inter-ocular distance and how far the headset can be adjusted for larger heads. I've got a big noggin and can't wear normal "one size fits all" hats. I have to special-order XXL or 7 3/4 to 8 size hats. As for the inter-ocular distance, I've never had a problem using binoculars, but I do spread out the binocular eyepieces more than most folks. If the Rift has enough adjustment for inter-ocular distance I'll be okay, but I haven't checked it out yet. November 6, 20169 yr I am not (yet) on the VR-train. Some users complain about the relatively low resolution of the displays. I assume that this will be improved in the next generation of VR-headsets. The Oculus Rift for example was released in January 2016 and one year is not a bad cycle for such High-Tec-products. So: Is there anything on the horizon? Does anyone know when there will be the next generation of VR-headsets available? The lower resolution VR experience still beats a high res 2D on anyday! Jay
