Zinertek or REX WA? Comparison screenshots

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

I've just installed REX Worldwide Airports over Zinertek textures.

I like REX WA so far, nice interface and beautiful textures as usual with REX products.

Maybe I am wrong but why didn't they replace control towers textures??

This is the only issue I am having with this new addon which is not a revolution but a very nice addition to our sim world.

Few pics for you at LFPO:

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS IS ONE SET OF REX TEXTURES AMONG MANY OTHERS

Hi David.

Nice comparison, good work!. Downloading REXWWA now, and will check the issue of Control Towers. Do Zinertek improve the CT's, as far as you know?. Have you compared the vehicles?.

Cheers, Ed

Thanks Ed.

Yes I believe Zinertek improves CT textures.

I am trying to upload some night textures comparison shots now.

Will see later for vehicles :-)

Maybe you could post the difference in VAS too ;-)

Hi,

Can you try to reproduce this official REX screenshot?
Somehow (the quality of) your screenshots look differently.

Hi André ;-)

Real VAS comparison means rebooting the PC between each screenie, panning around 360° few times in internal and external views etc...

I'll do that seriously a bit later.

IMO, VAS won't be really impacted compared with some complex addon sceneries, knowing that REX WA doesn't modify anything else than building and runway textures and doesn't add anything to the default scenery.

There are many textures sets. I now want to discover the difference between them.

Until now, very pleased with this nice product.

;-)

Hi David,

I too have bought and installed REX WA but am having problems, some airports have improved buildings but not others. I see the same as you at LFPO but can you do me a favour and port to Charles de Gaulle. The textures are still default there on my setup so I'm keen to see if yours have changed. Thanks.Paul

The new REX textures look great!  I also hope they add new textures for the control towers in the future.

Uh oh, it appears that the problem at some airports has been confirmed by a user over on the REX forum. There are a number of large airports dotted around the world that are high detail (see here http://www.simtours.net/highdetailairports.php). It looks like the REX product will install jetways and vehicles there but not change the terminal buildings. Not happy!

Yup, I allowed myself to discover this nasty issue with so called "enhanced by default" airports. Not a happy finding though. :(

Hi, David:

Could you please confirm if you installed REX WWA HD on top of your existing Zinertek HD Airports, or you uninstalled Zinertek's first?.

Thanks, Ed

Well actually it looks like this issue exists with Zinertek as well.
Here is LFCG for Paul.
As you can see, neither Zinertek or REX replace generic building textures at Charles de Gaulle airport.
In P3D like in FSX there are some international airports that are not "standard" and which have specific textures.
REX should list them and replace textures for each building in each airport, one by one.
I doubt they will do that unfortunately.

Yes Ed, on top of Zinertek.

AFAIK, there is no uninstall feature with Z.

One have to backup and reinstall default textures.

Well they really ought to have made that shortcoming clear in the pre-publicity. I don't think I'm the only person who'll be furious on finding out, that'll teach me to be impatient!

Ok, Thanks, on top, clear enough.

In fact, there IS an uninstall feature in Zinertek's. The utility is located in the main FSX/P3D directory inside the HD Airports folder.

Thanks again, Ed
