If there ever is a Lear 35A - 2.8...

Recommended Posts

Gee, Having some problems with V2.8.  This is something i noted during my first flight:

- Can not deploy Spoilers using the joystick button anymore.  Its is originally assigned via FSUIPC and is not working.

- Can not switch the Tailhook function to steer front wheel.   The only way is by pressing the button inside the cabin....Something very very difficult when on landing(as wel as trying to get the little switch for spoilers)...

   (This is a fresh Install, unistalled previous and reinstalled V2.8)

Anyone with similar issues? :fool:

Adding to the list of discovered anomalies on v2.8:

- I can't save a situation as "Cold and Dark". When I reload the aircraft it is *not* in the "Cold and Dark" state.

(Can anyone verify this? I also unistalled + installed from v2.7)

Per Autopilot Keys ZIP download:

G1000_PFD_SOFTKEY1 = HDG

G1000_PFD_SOFTKEY2 = 1/2 BNK

G1000_PFD_SOFTKEY3 = NAV

G1000_PFD_SOFTKEY4 = BC

G1000_PFD_SOFTKEY5 = LVL

G1000_PFD_SOFTKEY6 = TST

G1000_PFD_SOFTKEY7 = ENG

G1000_PFD_SOFTKEY8 = SFT

G1000_PFD_SOFTKEY9 = SPD

G1000_PFD_SOFTKEY10 = V/S

G1000_PFD_SOFTKEY11 = GS

G1000_PFD_SOFTKEY12 = ALTSEL

G1000_MFD_SOFTKEY1 = ALTHLD   (Note this assignment is MFD because there are not enough PFD's)

Per v 2.8 update information / fixes:

Joysticks & keyboard assignments:

Autopilot modes now can be assigned using the G1000 softkeys

Steer lock now can be assigned using the G1000 softkeys

Yaw damper now can be assigned using the G1000 softkeys

Spoiler switch now can be assigned using the G1000 softkeys (Default no longer works)

Read the updated user manual for details

Works ok here with FSUIPC on my setup

Hi Kolman,

Is this before or after you remapped it as stated in Vaughan's post ?

It's now mapped to one of the G1000 keys - need to check the updated manual for the correct one - I'm in the middle of a rebuild so I haven't upgraded yet...

The default "/" key no longer works... I'm assuming the developer chose this path to give full button control to customers that don't have a paid version of FSUIPC and access to Al's great LUA scripts...

Scott

Thanks Scott,

I didn't realize that FSUIPC would not work anymore. The spoilers do work with the G1000_MFD_SOFTKEY6.

However, I personally preferred my old FSUIPC setup because it allowed me to use SPOILERS_OFF and SPOILERS_ON separately on a two way switch. No I can only toggle the spoilers - seems less realistic to me.

Gerhard

Definitelly a fix is required,

I can not fly the aircraft looking at the critical switches with the mouse when on landing/takeoff...

If you add vibrations from EZCA/Chaseplane, its just not possible to do it!

I didn't realize that FSUIPC would not work anymore

FSUIPC mapping seems very important to me to... What about other functions?   Blocked too?  (I only flew 1 time V2.8, dont know)....  Important to review this topic...

Hi Gerhard,

Hmm - yeah - that's the way I had my spoiler mapped in the old condition... I used one button for "on" and one for "off" as well... If they only mapped a "toggle" that is not as flexible...

Hi Raphael,

I think you might be missing something...

The button functionality is still there - it's simply mapped to different keys... You can change your mapping in either FSX/P3D or FSUIPC - whichever you prefer - but you do have to change the mapping as outlined in the manual...

This is an excerpt - I don't think it is the complete list and you need to check the updated manual:

Per Autopilot Keys ZIP download:

G1000_PFD_SOFTKEY1 = HDG
 G1000_PFD_SOFTKEY2 = 1/2 BNK

I like one FSUIPC button (or one side of a rocker switch) push to toggle spoilers on/off.

Just like using the keyboard key "/".

Some setups do not have a lot of buttons/switches available.

G1000_MFD_SOFTKEY6 is ok as is, IMO.

I'm not totally in love with the way they've decided to handle the key mappings, but since I don't use FSUIPC, I decided to customize the KEYS.xml file in the LEAR_35A.CAB to suit my HOTAS mappings (as opposed to trying to do a custom version of my mappings to suite the new key assignments).

FSPilotshop have not updated their file!

Nevermind, I may try the G1000 fix update anyway!

Cheers

I like one FSUIPC button (or one side of a rocker switch) push to toggle spoilers on/off.

Just like using the keyboard key "/".

In version 2.7 it was actually possible to set it up both ways either toggle with one button or up and down with a two way switch.

However, toggling the spoilers is pretty simplified. If you look at the switch in the aircraft you can see that it has two positions:

Spoilers up and spoilers down.

Gerhard

I can not fly the aircraft looking at the critical switches with the mouse when on landing/takeoff...

You can control the steering modes using the assignments as shown in the updated L35A manual:

G1000_MFD_SOFTKEY2 = Steer Lock On

G1000_MFD_SOFTKEY3 = Steer Lock Off

Simply make your chosen key or button assignments in the control section of FSX, etc.  And if you choose to make these assignments through FSUIPC, you can make the assignments Profile Specific so the G1000 softkeys can be reassigned to other fucntions for other aircraft.

FSUIPC itself works as always -- it has not been changed in any way by the L35 update. Only Pete Dowson makes changes to FSUIPC.

Al

Hi,

As someone who doesn't have a full version of FSUIPC, the 2.8 patch is really great. I wasn't able to assign the tailhook command to nose wheel steering. This was apparently a FSX Accel vs FSX SP2 thing: those with Accel could, those with SP2 couldn't. This was a big annoyance because it meant scrabbling around with the mouse trying to find the little button on the pedestal during every roll-out. But 2.8 fixes that. Bravo Flysimware!!!!!

Yes, I know that.

I was saying I like it (version 2.8) as a Toggle (spoiler up/down) just like the default assignment (FS9/FSX/P3D using the keyboard key "/") on all other jets.

That way I only use one assignment in FSUIPC and one button on the yoke and it is the same for all my aircraft.
