Chasing the Aurora Borealis

Recommended Posts

Some impressions from a journey Iceland - Alaska in four legs. I hope that I will see the Aurora even better at my next flights round the polar circle. At least there was always still a little daylight.

I never expected to see a DC-6 at Kangerlussuaq Airport/Greenland

And there it is: Aurora Borealis

Due to strong headwinds a had to refuel in the middle of nowhere: Gjöa Haven (scenery by Roger Wensley, who filled a lot of gaps scenery-wise in this part of the world)

What a great journey, Harald. But your Aurora Borealis needs to look better, I'm afraid. I did a flight from Narvik the other day, I'll post some screenies shortly

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds

My specs: AMD Radeon RX6700XT, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB RAM, 34" monitor, screen resolution: 2560x1080

Lovely shots! What scenery do you use for Kangerlussuaq? I don't have any scenery for Greenland and that one looks pretty good.

Many thanks Ed, Pugilist2, HLJames, Bernd, Joseph and Nebojsa for your kind comments.

only thing missing is the sound of your lovely Tu-134 and the DC-6's

Hm, the Tu-134 sounds great. But the DC-6 does not since FSHotSFX doesn't work anymore under Win7.

But your Aurora Borealis needs to look better, I'm afraid

I think it will look better as soon as I come further north, when daylight has faded completely.

What scenery do you use for Kangerlussuaq?

It's Toni Agramont's Greenland scenery; the last of his sceneries that I use. It is from 2010 and has the standard of 2005 but I know no better scenery of BGSF.

There are, however, better sceneries for some tiny Greenland villages by Roger Wensley, none of them with a runway long enough for the Tu-134.
