Dual Boot Issues - Could Do With Help Please

Recommended Posts

I’ve been trying to setup a dual boot system with Windows7 & Windows10, with separate SSDs, but having a problem…

Win7 was already installed to SSD. I then installed Win10 via UEFI USB drive to another SSD. I expected to then be presented with the Win10 boot option menu, but the system will only boot into Win10, unless I disconnect that SSD.

Is there a way to do this, or am I wasting my time?

Dougal, I have been using Bootit NG (now called bootit baremetal) for many years.

Fantastic bit of software, Bootmanager, partition tool and will even Image your drives/partitions.

It lives on it's own small partition which it creates when installed so is very robust and enables recovery of your backup images before windows even boots, saved me from disaster many times.

But back to your problem, Win10 has over written your BCD file which holds the entries for your operating systems, you can repair the BCD and get the windows boot menu back with this free tool.

Hi Glynn

Should I install them to Win10 and run these from there, or start Win7 and install and run from there?
