Blurry when Panning

Recommended Posts

Ok I am using P3dv3.35 and ezdok 1.187 and using 4k resolution. I have played around with msaa in Nvidia control panel and within p3d. My gpu load is around the 55 to 80% load depending on clouds. Everything is running smooth except when panning around in VC and external views. Oh and using Sony 43in 4k Tv. at 30hz.

I have same issue here. While panning there is kind of blurry/ghost view. VCockpit textures are not clear and sharp while panning. Anyone can solve this ?

No, blurries just happen when panning even with FXAA selected to OFF with 4xSGSS + 4xMSAA.

Just installed Gtx1080 tonight and still blurry when panning. New cfg and shaders deleted. I don't know what to do.

I guess it's related driver issue here ?

But are we onlly who suffers this ? It's weird, I changed and treid lots of things yesterday but no way..

I'm sure it's not related to FXAA - MSAA or SGSS. Keep trying :)

OK, when you say "blurry" what exactly do you mean? If it's stuttering or framerate drops, that's one thing. There's also "blurry" terrain textures off in the distance - is that what you mean?

I have a feeling you're actually talking about pixel ghosting, in other words, slow pixel response time of your monitor/TV. Most 4k TVs and monitors have pretty poor pixel response times, which means that you see a "blur" or "trail" following colors as they pan across the screen. You can read a lot more about it at Blur Busters

Well this was happening before I went 4k. I had a 1080 monitor and was still doing this. It's not blurry textures it's just when I pan around everything trees gauges runway buildings go blurry til I stop panning.

Exactly. You have described the problem better than us. I will read the link content tonight but wondering any possible solution ?

Is this a technical performance limitation of our monıtors ?

Thanks.

Yes, it's a technical limitation of your monitors. You may be able to find an option in the monitor's on-screen display menu for "game mode" or "overdrive" or "response time", something along those lines - you may be able to turn those on or increase them to the next setting to help fight the ghosting, but generally speaking if it's really bad, your only real option is to switch to a new monitor with better native response times.

By the way, when I said 4k response times are usually poor, I wasn't saying only 4k TVs/monitors have poor response times. Any display of any resolution can have poor response times. It's mostly based on what type of screen technology the display uses (TN, IPS, VA, OLED.) By the same token, there are some 4k displays that do have good or at least OK response times.

Ok after much testing and a big help from Rob Ainscough. I finally fixed my issue with blurry panning or ghosting while panning. The culprit was my settings within the 4K tv I am using. I had it set to gaming mode and eventually had to set it to a custom setting were I could enable the smooth motion setting. I was thinking that smooth the smooth motion setting would actually hurt me when running P3D but I was wrong. Thanks to everyone for your help and input!
