December 1, 20169 yr Well, I just installed the demo of XP11 on my i5 4GB laptop, just to see, & it looks great. I have not flown yet, as I'm at work, & it is a little jerky, so I need to tweak a bit, but so far, VERY impressed! considering my laptop is only DX10. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... December 1, 20169 yr To the naysayers, with all the money you need to spend on P3D or FSX to get it looking nice out of the box, to not be impressed by all that X-Plane 11 default has to offer for a relatively small 60 USD makes little sense. I liked certain elements of X-Plane 10 but moved back to P3D as I felt it was more realistic overall visually. However, having spent almost a week flying X-Plane 11, I can honestly say, it is hands down far superior. Way more immersive. Sure there are things missing but it's a bit like comparing a classic car with a modern Tesla. Sure, your classic car might have fancy bells and whistles that you have added over the years but there's no denying that modern Tesla sure does look and feel the business in 2016  They say it takes on average 21 days for a person to get into a new routine. Try X-Plane 11 with an open mind for 21 days and then decide :p0310:
December 1, 20169 yr Moderator To the naysayers, with all the money you need to spend on P3D or FSX to get it looking nice out of the box, to not be impressed by all that X-Plane 11 default has to offer for a relatively small 60 USD makes little sense But as is often the case, people will compare their current simulator (with all bells and whistles) to X-Plane. I install other sims often whenever a new release comes out and then install a few of my products, but I can't use it for too long as I find it too clunky (e.g. Having to install something to manage cameras) or the loading screen when I want to change the time, etc. However, it's also a case of not liking all my keyboard shortcuts not working and having to relearn the interface again that I don't like more and I just lose patience and go back to what I know. e.g. I get frustrated in P3D because I don't know or have forgotten how to pan around the exterior view, etc. Aerofly FS 2 also impressed me a lot because it was so easy to just get in and fly, my controllers just all worked and there was no configuration and clicking around a clunky interface. Little things like this all make a big difference when evaluating a product, and XP11 is a big improvement over 10 in this regard. I was basically up and flying within a minute of installing it.

I was very excited about XP10 and the plan was to move to it exclusively (I don't want two sims to keep up with). But, while I did buy it, I went back to FSX and then on to P3D and did not keep XP10 installed. But 11 is different and may be a keeper for me. Traffic, weather and lack of seasons are still an issue. But, long-term, this may be the way to go. There is, however, some discussion going on in the P3D forum here that there is some kind of announcement coming and some speculate that it will be a version 4 with 64-bit. But, that is speculation and XP11 is already here. Rick Abshier 5900X | RTX 5070 Ti OC| 64 GB@3600 | India Pale Ale
December 1, 20169 yr Wow!!! Been simming for a good 20 years, mostly Microsoft, some FLY!, and occasionally X-plane. I never liked X-plane all that much. But now i tried the X-plane 11 demo and boy oh boy am i blown away by it. Together with all screenshots i see passing by, makes me think it's not the question IF i'm gonna switch, but WHEN!! I mean, let's face it, visually it's all we ever wanted. To wander over this earth with a nice plane and see sights like that. To hover a helicopter over a small hamlet and see houses where you can actually imagine people are living there.. My only hope is that the textures will not be too repetetive. December 1, 20169 yr Finally....finally...after years and years of wanting to like and enjoy X-Plane, it's happened. Aircraft that not only look good, but I can actually hand fly them without struggling. Night flying is, as we know, superb. Weather: lots of improvments to be had, but...these past 5-7 days in the NEUSA, IFR/MVFR and LIFR conditions have been the standard and the flying has been a blast, if not a bit stressful (!). For the first time in my simming life (over 20 years) X-Plane has me excited. P3D has been my go-to sim for the past what, 5-6 years? Before that FSX, while X-Plane was something I always had on-board and tried from time to time. Always I came away shaking my head 'no'. I'm positively impressed with X-Plane 11! Is it possible in the near future, it becomes my go-to sim? I'm actually afraid it might! If you've not given it a try, and as previous posts have suggested, a several day to couple weeks try, I highly recommmend it. LR has produced something quite special, even considering the obvious voids. i7-9700K, MSI Z370, PNY 4070 Super, GTX 750Ti, 32GB GSkill, 43" curved Samsung, 32" BenQ, 11" LED, RealSImGear GTN750, Win10, P3DV5.4/P3DV6 and MSFS, several GoFlight modules, Saitek radio, Brunner CLS-E NG Yoke, Virtual Fly TQ6.
December 1, 20169 yr I tried XP 10 when it was 1st released and I LOL. I couldn't understand why some simmers chose XP over FSX. Years later a more mature XP 10 gave me a clearer picture of the benefits of using XP. Once I took the time to learn (steep curve) and bought the right planes, I started to like and appreciate XP. Some see XP 11 as a HUGE game changer, but a fully loaded XP 10 is pretty amazing. As has been said countless times, the future is bright for X-Plane. Let's implore developers to create: 1) SEASONS!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is needed now. 2) A weather generator that depicts the weather smoothly and accurately. (xEnviro) (SMP v4) Let's go! This is also urgent! 3) ATC for for controlled and uncontrolled airports with proper phraseology and procedures. 4) AI Traffic (Not as important) 5) Airplanes with realistic GNS 430/530, GTN 750, G1000, and FMS. The more simmers support the platform, the better the chances of getting the add-ons we need to make XP 11 this best that it can be. MSFS
