help with X plane 11

Recommended Posts

Hi All

After using the trail for few days,I decided to buy the XP11 beta.

I thought  scenery installation was difficult-but now i have found I have no airport objects at some of the pre installed airport.

Can you please advise why there are no push carts at EGBB-it's one of the pre loaded airports that comes within XP11.

If I need to install a external pack-can you please advise which one.

Many thanks,

Qas

Qas,

What I did to solve the lack of airports (Global airports already installed are a good start within the sim) was to install Pre-fab airports, some 21,000. You can find it here :  http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/27582-prefab-scenery-for-25000-airports-with-exclusions/  or here is you like: http://www.4xplane.nl/prefab/

Do read over the instructions, 3d People file is required (you will get an error in XP-11 if not installed) and you need OpenSceneryX, but those are not difficult to install.

I have the pkg #1 installed in Xp-11 and it works just fine. Proper placement within the XP-11 Custom Scenery, Scenery.ini is required as is with all custom scenery.

There are instructions and a list (xml file) of all airports in the package.  There is a package #2 but it has some connecting runway caveats, I elected not to install that.

All free.

As far as no objects go, make sure you have Objects up a bit in the Graphics set up section, the higher the better if your system will handle it.

I cannot answer your question about push-carts.

Many thanks- I will do this later.

The push back works in EDDF-one of the supplied airports, but no where else.

This is very odd-I would have thought the push back option should be standard for all airports-like in fsx and p3d.

I hope I haven't wasted my money!

X-Plane scenery is getting better, but that depends on users building/updating airports and then posting them to the X-Plane Scenery Gateway, https://gateway.x-plane.com.  Once they are approved, updates are pushed out with most smaller updates of X-Plane.  However,  if no one has worked on an airport, then it will just be a runway with very little scenery.

Now, as for pushback trucks and ground service. This is a new feature in 11.  The program used to edit airports is called WED.   They have not released the new version of this program yet for 11 which has the required code to add pushback and ground support to the scenery.  This is why you don't see it.  Once it is out, and users have had some time to update their scenery on the gateway, you will start to see more airports appear with pushback.  The same thing happened when they added static aircraft.  One had to go back in and change the parking spots to allow them to draw static aircraft.

Cheers,

Brendan

U have not wasted your money mate. Thin of X-plane 11 as of having beta stage for approx 1 year; the full verison will be released soon ofc. but it will still be buggy - thus the inofficial 1 year rule (for myself at least.)

Make sure you give X-plane time and I am sure you will like it!

Be sure to try X-plane 10 as well! Its wonderful and it will show you how it looks like when the sim is fully optimised! (which x11 is not yet!)

If I need to install a external pack-can you please advise which one.

Try one of these:

http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/28903-egbb-birmingham-airport/

http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/34353-egbb-birmingham-international/

(in either case, you'll need to install the listed additional libraries required)

This adds ground traffic, but I don't know if it also supports pushback:

This plugin should add ground serivces and pushback in every airport, I don't know if it works in X-Plane 11 though:

It is a nice idea but those airports look very generic and basic. And obviously nothing like the real deal. I myself download airports from x-plane.org. Whenever I want to fly somewhere new I check out that site for the airport. A lot of them are payware quality and usually they are (always) better than the default (gateway) airports. If x-plane.org doesn't have a download for the airport I want to fly from or to I actually pick another airport. Prefab doesn't cut it for me.
