Long start up during cold weather ops?

It's just above freezing here, so my start up seemed to take forever before the engines spooled back down. I'm assuming this is normal as the engine oil temps needed to come up before they'd go back to idle?

I couldn't find anything about this in the AFM, it only talks about temperatures below -12°C, and about ice buildup on wings, frozen brakes, etc.

But already the older Carenado Cessna 337 (and I still consider Carenado and Alabeo as basically one team) seems to have at least some modeling of the effects of cold weather, e.g. IAS needle not showing anything if pitot heat is off below certain temperatures, and I had serious problems keeping the 337 from crashing into the ground (due to ice buildup?) when doing a test drive at KPHL (from SunSkyJet) during the weekend.

I guess my concern is with over torquing the engines during a long start up (not that engine damage is modeled or anything). It took around 2 minutes for the props to settle down after start up.

 

For those of you flying in freezing or below conditions, can you verify if your start up takes awhile before the engines settle down?

That doesn't seem right. I'll try tomorrow for you (in the sim - P3D) with active sky as it is currently -20 OAT here in Calgary and I'm on mandatory (dutied out) days off :)
