Lighting in X-Plane 11 default 737-800 So dark at night!

Featured Replies

Hello AVSIMmers,

I am here again because I need help on X-Plane 11, I'm completely new to it and it would be nice if I could have some assistance on it.

My question is:

How do I turn on the cockpit lights in the Default Boeing 737-800 in X-Plane 11 (not v10)?

You see, I need to see where things are and in FSX lights illuminate the cockpit when it is dark because I can't see anything exept the glowing buttons.

Any help will be appreciated,

Thanks

I found that you need to have visual effects set to 'high (HDR)' in order for the background and AFDS flood knobs/dome light switch etc to have any effect in the 737 cockpit. Having said that (and just checked), with medium visual effects, the panel is lit albeit quite dimly, edit, nope, that was just sunlight from the sunset!

Where do I change that? Sorry I'm new to XPLN 11

When you first start X-Plane 11, you will be greeted with a full screen menu, with large blue buttons along the left side of the screen.  Click on the one that says Settings, which will bring up a new window.  At the top of said window, are a string of tabs.  Click on the one for graphics.  The window will change, showing a bunch of settings controls, with the first top left setting for Visual Effects.  Move the slider up until it registers for HDR.

There are various rheostats to control cockpit lighting in the B737. I highlited them in the following images:

Read the manual! There's a lot of interesting stuff in there including using XP's flashlight inside dark cockpits. You only need to read it once then it becomes a reference tool but I do realize that the user manual cannot possibly answer all questions, and that's why forums exist.
